Brian Lawrence Edwards

In 2015, we hired Brian to represent us for a felony VOP case (Case #14001068F, Charlotte County, Fl). The previous attorney had secured an 18 month dept. of corrections deal. We felt that the facts of the case warranted a second look as most of the sentencing score sheet was incorrect. Brian agreed ...that the score sheet was incorrect, agreed to help us and told us "I would never have a client of mine plead out to prison for a VOP. You would be hard pressed for county jail time." With that advice we proceeded with his services. Long story short, he never corrected the score sheet, never secured a better deal with the prosecutor, agreed to the illegal statutes that the state was applying to the case (wrong dates on statutes) and told us to plead out to the judge and that he was giving us a second chance. We followed his instruction on pleading out to the judge and we were not given a second chance but a MAXIMUM SENTENCE OF 5 YEARS DOC!!! Be very cautious if considering Mr. Edwards. In 2018, we had a 3.850 hearing on our case in which Brian was called onto the stand. He committed perjury while under oath about how we contacted him, hired him, and what we spoke about. Do not trust him as he is just another scam artist. Brian has cost us thousands of dollars and years of our lives that we can not get back due to his misrepresentation and bad advice. I forgot to mention his sloppy appearance on court dates and horrible "lawyering" skills in court.
