Great advocate!

The Florida Bar sent me a letter in March 2017 about some irregularities with my bar exam. Originally they wanted a response within a week, but I asked for an extension while I consulted a lawyer. I asked around and compared prices before I contacted Mr. Geer in May. It's not a good idea to answer an...y inquiries from the bar on your own. That goes for lawyers and potential lawyers. I paid the retainer in June and he went to work to try and resolve my issue. The case was dismissed by the FBBE in September 2017. Price/Cost: Mr. Geer is reasonable and a value add compared to other lawyers who represent applicants/lawyers in front of the FBBE. Understand that you may have to hire an outside expert or request materials from the FBBE. The hiring of expert witnesses and any printing of material related to the FBBE is not part of the retainer and I had to cover the cost. I was aware of that before I hired him as counsel. You usually sign an agreement for legal representation beforehand going over the specifics on what the retainer covers and what it doesn't. I still came out ahead. Advocacy/Representation: This was Mr. Geer's strong point. Being that we were short on case law regarding my situation, he quickly shifted his correspondence with the bar from legal writing to persuasive writing aided by discovery material from an IT expert. Since the FBBE can get bogged down with review of new applicants and complaints about current lawyers, it's easy for your case to get pushed to the back burner. Brett was persistent though and repeatedly asked for a resolution on the matter. If not for his continued advocacy, I might still be dealing with the matter today.

Patient and Knowledgable Bar Complaint Counsel

I hired Mr. Geer to respond to a bar complaint filed by opposing counsel and am glad I did. He really took his time to understand the issues and then offered his informed opinion based on his many years of experience. I found that reassuring and it relieved me of the stress of worrying about what m...ight come. Ultimately, Mr. Geer responded to the complaint and it was then closed without further issue. I could not ask for a better result.

Last Minute Consultation

Brett was great. He responded to my e-mail and called me at the end of the day. We talked for about an hour, and he already knew what the Board of Bar Examiners would ask of me next while I described to him what had gone on the last two years of their character and fitness investigation. He mentio...ned certain points where I should have contacted him earlier (the *most important*: when I began applying to the Bar). I realized there were three different times when he could have entered the scene and saved me money, stress and damage to my relationships. I thought I could handle the Bar application process all by myself. Nope, I fell right into their traps, and Brett showed me exactly what those were. At the end of our discussion, Brett gave me three options, and one was obviously the best—the path of least stress and expense. Moreover, Brett made me feel a lot better about myself; that I was not a bad person--I just should have contacted him first. In this case, his consultation was free. I am too close to the finish line (?) to attempt to salvage a better result at this point. Kudos to Brett for taking the time out of his busy day—and possibly saving my marriage.

The Tampa Attorney for Bar Defense

Brett Geer and his wife Paula are fantastic at what they do. They, from the first phone call, are helpful, and polite. They explain everything you'll need, do not break your bank or waste your time. They helped me through my investigative hearing with the bar to get my clearance. With a lot of experi...ence and knowledge, you cannot go wrong hiring the Geer Law Firm.

"Brett is a highly intelligent and practical attorney. Applying, to the Florida bar is an in-depth and convoluted process that can be filled with landmines. I’m a tax attorney with years of experience opposing the IRS. The Florida Board of Bar Examiners are similar to IRS Revenue Agents except they are auditing your life as opposed to a tax return. Brett adeptly guided me through the process with a re-assuring demeanor. I highly recommend Brett to any out of state attorney applying to the Florida Bar as well as any Florida attorneys with disciplinary issues."
