I graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida in 1998. I attended Stetson University College of Law, where I was a member of the Stetson Law Review. While earning my Juris Doctor degree, I served as a Federal Judicial Intern for Chief Judge Elizabeth A. Kovachevich of the U.S. Middle District of Florida; as the President of the Student American Bar Association and was appointed as a teaching fellow.
I earned my Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2001. In my early career, I gained trial experience as a defense attorney, representing defendants and large insurance carriers. I began practicing family and marital law in 2006. I now dedicate the majority of my time to individuals and families going through divorce, litigating custody and financial matters or resolving conflict through mediation or uncontested divorce proceedings. I genuinely care about my clients and their families and I try to handle their personal matters and legal issues with compassion and discretion.
I work with my clients to understand and meet their needs and to navigating delicate family matters. I help my clients to evaluate alternatives to court hearings, such as mediation or negotiated settlement to resolve your family law issues quickly and in the least stressful manner possible. As a Certified Family Law Mediator, I help some parents negotiate settlements of their family law issues, either before or after they've filed for divorce or custody.
I also litigate family law cases where matters are brought to trial before the Court. In extreme situations, I take action to protect our clients or their children, asking the Court to suspend or supervise a parent’s visitation, award temporary alimony and/or child support, order a mental health/drug/alchohol screening or counseling for the other party and/or provide counseling for the children and/or client dealing with damaging and devastating issues. I understand that each family and their issues are unique, so I am able to tailor our firm's legal services to suit individual needs.

Going through a divorce was an extremely difficult time for myself and my daughters. Lorieann and her team were absolutely fantastic. Lorieann will take the time to get to know you as a person (not just a client), truly understand the goals you have for you and your loved ones, and fight for you to...

I can’t even begin to say enough good things about Lori and her staff. Lori took over my divorce case after another attorney which screwed me over. Lori was upfront, honest but most importantly Lori was so personable that I immediately felt comfortable knowing she would handling the remaining portion...

Mrs. Cox and the staff at Cox & Associates worked with our family to have our child's name changed legally. They walked us through the process from start to finish. We were kept updated throughout and had prompt responses to our email and phone calls. Everyone at Cox & Associates held themselves...

I could go on and on about how well Mrs Cox handled me and my separation and parenting agreement. Simply put, she managed my expectations correctly, ethically and realistically. You can't put a price on this and will only see the value in hindsight due to all the stressful circumstances surrounding...
