No communication. I'm in the dark and Asheley doesn't return my phone calls

I'm feeling frustrated because I'm not getting my phone calls returned. I don't remember a return phone call taking over a week to be normal. Maybe this is not Mr. Herman's fault but Asheley, the lady in charge of my case, sure isn't representing him well. I have my fingers crossed that Mr. Herman is... working for me. Hopefully I can get a call back to reassure me of that and answer my questions. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear that the client was unable to reach the legal assistant assigned to his/her case and normally we have paralegals and assigned attorneys who are available as well. Beyond that I will always take someones call and return all messages within 48 hours with rare exception so I certainly hope the client will avail themselves of the opportunity to speak to someone and not run into this again.

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE

Mr. Herman represented me in a debt relief matter from 01/21/13 through 04/15/13. I was provided with ZERO communication regarding this matter until the time I asked for a copy of my entire file. When I received that file it was EXACTLY as I had given it to him. Nothing was touched. There were no... letters or any type of communication with my creditors in this three month period of time.

I would certainly welcome the former client to contact me directly as to the issues raised because I have no recollection of any client who would have been ignored like that unless there are some other circumstances such as an issue with the payment of the retainer orsomething else that caused a delay that is the typical time frame where the case develops.

A real debt relief program

When I first heard of this it sounded to good to be true and it wasn't. They told me exactly what to expect, any calls I received my banks were fined, any letters I received they were also fined, and any negative remarks on my report were removed promptly, and also carried fines against my banks. The...y kept me well informed, and even made me aware of old errors that were on my report and made the corrections for me. Not only did I put my debt behind me but gave me back the score I once had. They were a real life saver and I really couldn't say enough about the changes in my life they made!

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2016.

Public Reprimand issued in FL, 2016

updated on 04/11/2026

Public reprimand means the attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Bar warns the lawyer in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

Paul’s comment:

“Debt settlement client in Connecticut in my old practice who did not have any money to pay towards her debts and did not like the advise about her options. She claimed that we did not communicate with her which was untrue. I had no choice but to accept the reprimand in order to avoid having to attend a hearing in Conn. live where she filed her complaint.”

Reciprocal - Suspension issued in DC, 2016

updated on 04/11/2026

This means that the attorney's misconduct in another state, or jurisdiction, also violated the rules for practicing law in District of Columbia Bar.

Paul’s comment:

“Because i agreed to a suspension of 6 months in FL, Wash DC like any other bar Assoc suspended me for the same length of time and reinstated me in DC as of December 2017 when the FL suspension expired.”

Reciprocal - Interim Suspension issued in DC, 2015

updated on 04/11/2026

This means that the attorney's misconduct in another state, or jurisdiction, also violated the rules for practicing law in District of Columbia Bar.

Paul’s comment:

“Because i agreed to a suspension of 6 months in FL, Wash DC like any other bar Assoc suspended me for the same length of time and reinstated me in DC as of December 2017 when the FL suspension expired.”

Suspension with Conditions issued in FL, 2015

updated on 04/11/2026

This means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Paul’s comment:

“I had a rouge paralegal who we later learned was a pathological liar and created a fraudulent order on a bankruptcy case that I wasn't even handling in the office. She scammed me into believing the case was still open and active, when in fact it was on hold for her failure to supply the BK court with the necessary documents. When confronted she had her daughter make believe she was the BK Judge's assistant on the phone assuring me that the case was still open when it wasn't”
