Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, I came over to America at a young age with my parents who were willing to abandon what lives they had back home so that I may have a bright future. I knew early in high school that I had to make them proud and that I had a profound interest in practicing law. I attended the University of Florida for my undergrad studies and then pursued my dream of becoming an attorney by applying and eventually graduating from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
Today, I practice law in Boca Raton, FL, serving clients all throughout South Florida and occasionally in other areas of Florida. I have the ability to serve the Latin community as I am fluent in Spanish. I have trial and legal experience after working for the prosecutor's office in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Working now as a plaintiff's attorney, I am able to help my clients by being an experienced litigator.

I had a minor car accident which was completely the other driver’s fault. Her insurance company wanted to partially blame me. I contacted Mr Cartaya and he solved everything quickly and in my favor. I’m so happy I contacted him and only wish I had contacted him sooner. I highly recommended him.

My son hired Luis for two separate criminal cases he had in Broward County. He is very refreshingly honest and has an amazing rapport with both the client and the judges/prosecutors in the courtroom. I could tell he was highly respected by the judges in my son's cases, and as a result, the outcome ...

No File - Dismissed
After doing some research into the facts and law surrounding the case, I was able to convince the prosecutor to "No File" the charges.
Count 1 - Withhold of Adjudication as to the downfiled charge of Possession of Paraphernalia (originally charged as felony - possession of cocaine), Count 2 - No File
My client was charged with receiving a large package of marijuana in the mail. I did some research into the facts of the case and after some negotiating, I was able to get my client's case dismissed.
After doing some research into the facts and law surrounding the case, I was able to convince the prosecutor to "No File" the charges.
After reviewing the evidence, I was immediately in contact with the prosecutor. I was able to convince him to "No File" the case.
No offer from the State, so I filed a Motion to Suppress. Before having a hearing on the matter, I convinced the prosecutor to dismiss the felony charge. The misdemeanor was resolved to a Withhold of Adjudication (no formal conviction).
