Short version: They wildly exceeded my expectations. Outstanding job. All charges dropped. Long version: Got arrested on a small infraction that could have easily blown up into something big if my case was not handled with the proper care. Opened up Google and started searching for a defense attor...ney. Narrowed it down to three different firms, took the weekend to ponder who to retain. Here's why I decided to go with PSM&W: 1) My attorney friend (who, unfortunately for me, is an immigration lawyer, not a defense lawyer) had heard of Marc Shiner. Clearly Mark has a reputation for being a heavy-hitting defense lawyer if my buddy, who lives 45 miles away and practices a different type of law, has heard of him. 2) Through my initial conversations with Marc, it was clear he knew the judge and all the local prosecutors very well, knew them by first and last name, their personalities, etc. This is key. The law is black and white, but when you're in legal trouble, you need a lawyer who knows the people on the other side of your case. So, despite another local attorney offering to represent me at an extremely low price, I retained Marc Shiner from Perlet, Shiner, Melchiorre & Walsh. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. Marc immediately gave me a list of things to do. Things that would help me look good when it came time to present my case to the prosecutor. This turned out to be important when the court date came around, plus it put my mind at ease by giving me something to focus on. Another thing - Marc did a great job of making himself available for phone calls during the time leading up to my court date. I've heard stories of lawyers turning on the charm in the initial interactions in order to get your business, then basically abandoning you once the check is in their hands. I was a bundle of nerves in the first few weeks after my arrest. I probably called Marc's office more than I needed to. Marc was gracious enough to have a few quick pep talks with me, and when he wasn't available, his paralegal Merchi Fernandez (who was very helpful and sweet btw), was kind enough to take my call. In summary, Marc did a fantastic job. If you're in legal trouble in Palm Beach County, don't take any chances on less-reputable firms who may offer to represent you at a cheaper price. Get an attorney who not only knows the law, but knows the legal system and the people in it as well.

I started out with a felony battery charge, which could yield up to 5 years in prison. After Marc performed the proper due diligence, he was able to negotiate the charge down to a withhold(less than a misdemeanor).
