Scott Douglas Knapp

Mr. Scott D. Knapp is an Partner in the Fort Lauderdale Office of Broad

and Cassel. He is a member of the Firm's Commercial Litigation Practice

Group.

• Mr. Knapp has a broad background in complex civil litigation and has

litigated cases from their inception through verdict and settlement in both

state and federal courts.

• He has experience representing clients in commercial litigation matters involving breach of contract, enforcement of restrictive covenants, consumer protection, unfair and deceptive trade practices and other business torts.
• Mr. Knapp has also litigated cases involving medical and professional malpractice, products liability, mass tort, catastrophic injury, bad faith

and insurance disputes.

• Mr. Knapp secured the dismissal of a high profile claim against a Fortune

500 company claiming to have conspired with local healthcare providers to violate the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.

• In another large case, Mr. Knapp appeared as second chair defense

counsel in a jury trial involving claims of medical negligence, fraud and

violations of FDA regulations. In this capacity, he argued multiple

evidentiary issues and successfully defended the client against punitive

damage allegations.

• Mr. Knapp also has a background in sports law. Throughout law school

he worked with the Executive Management for the The Miami Heat.

Since, he has represented clients in several matters in the sports industry,

including representation of a disability insurance carrier in a multimillion

dollar claim brought by a professional franchise.
