His experience includes practicing as in-house counsel for an Andean services firm based out of Colombia with operations in venezuela, Peru and Ecuador; senior associate for Arthur Andersen/Andersen Legal; international counsel for a start-up Florida based B2B company with operations in Latin America in the process of an IPO; VP of Corporate and Legal Affairs for International Media Services, a Florida firm with operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia (acquired by Marketwire); Chief Legal Counsel and VP of Risk Management for American Capital Financial Group, overseeing a commercial finance portfolio of over 15MM with structured funding operations throughout Latin America; and Partner at Gaitan Morales, PLLC and German Morales, P.A.
German has been adivising clients for over 16 years in cross-border transactions, corporate financing, corporate compliance and corporate reorganizations in Latin America and Florida. Having participated in numerous due diligence reviews, acquisitions and mergers, as well as crossborder tax and international legal planning, both domestically and in Latin America, as well as across several industries, German has developed a keen sense of enterprise risk assessment and management, along with sharp negotiation skills which have contributed to a highly enhanced legal business acumen. His constant exposure to Latin American legislation as well as his dual degrees in Civil Law and Common Law has made him extremely knowledgeable about practices and transactions in the region.
He holds a law degree from Universidad del Rosario (Colombia) and a Juris Doctorate degree from Florida International University. He is licensed to practice law in Colombia and in Florida. He has received extensive training on business law, corporate law, secured transactions and risk management.
He also has held and holds positions as Member or advisor to Board of Directors of several private companies.
