Richard D. Tuschman is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by The Florida Bar, AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers Magazine. He is a frequent lecturer on employment law issues and writes the Forbes Let’s Talk Shop Blog, which focuses on current issues in employment law. Richard graduated with honors from the George Washington University Law School in 1991 and received his B.A. in 1988 from Franklin & Marshall College. He grew up in Manalapan Township, New Jersey, and attended Manalapan High School.
Richard regularly represents clients in Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) cases, as well as in cases alleging employment discrimination and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Florida Civil Rights Act. Richard also handles cases involving whistleblowing, restrictive covenants (non-competition and non-solicitation agreements), breach of contract and trade secrets, and regularly appears before federal and state agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Richard has handled a wide range of litigation in federal and state courts in his career, including consumer class actions, business disputes, and litigation under the Title III of the ADA. He began his career with the employment law boutique Muller Mintz, and has also practiced with several large firms, including Baker & McKenzie, Epstein Becker & Green, and Akerman.
Richard lives in Cooper City, Florida with his wife, Jennifer, their three children, Sam, Ben and Abbie, and (at last count) their three dogs and seven cats. Richard is an avid cyclist and regularly rides with several local cycling groups. He is also Vice-President of Debbie’s Dream Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about stomach cancer, advancing funding for research, providing education and support internationally to patients, families, and caregivers, and making the cure for stomach cancer a reality.
