In April 2012, I found myself in a major financial crisis when several business clients stopped paying their large receivables due to their clients non-payment. My debt included a $1,000,0...00 Bank Line of Credit (personally guaranteed), $1,200,000 in credit card debt (15+ cards in my name) and $400,000 in vendor payables (50+ vendors). For business and personal reasons, Bankruptcy was not an ideal option. My phone became a non stop source of dread. I had two daughters away at college and had to take every call from every unknown number. Tagging phone numbers to avoid the creditor calls proved fruitless. Over the next several years, Eric settled each credit card debt for 10% to 20% of the principal balance and most waived the interest and late charges. He negotiated settlements in installments usually over a period of 6 to 12 months. Eric set a plan of action and prioritized settlements based on the funds I had available. Eric continuously spoke with creditors working on potential future settlements. As time passed, most of the creditors accepted a settlement. There are a few lingering accounts which Eric continues to work on for me. I am grateful that these debts do not cause me stress because I know Eric will work out an affordable settlement for me. Although Eric had numerous major achievements along the way, his greatest success was settling a $552,000 credit card Judgement for a one time payment of $50,000. It has been 7 years since I walked into the Law Offices of Sasha Katz and began working with Eric. My scariest creditors are settled and paid. I maintain 2 personal credit cards and pay them in full each month. I did not file for Bankruptcy. My credit score has increased from under 500 to 710. It is possible that my situation was particularly challenging due to the large sums and big name creditors accustomed to intimidating people into full payment. The law office of Sasha Katz just closed on a house that I was in foreclosure for about 4 years. Not only do I NOT owe Wells Fargo a penny, but I also received $10K at closing to relocate.
