About me

I concentrate my areas of practice primarily in the representation of public employee benefit plans, labor & employment law and general federal civil rights litigation with a concentration in defending 42 U.S.C. Section 1983 claims against police officers.  I pursue and defend FLSA or Florida state law claims for matters such as overtime/wages/commissions owed as well as discrimination claims.  I also handle other labor and employment matters including but not limited to non-compete agreements, employee handbooks, policies and enforcement and drafting of employment agreements.    I also work extensively in drafting and reviewing contracts in general whether they be for employment, services or other areas.  I also have considerable experience in drafting or revising numerous municipal ordinances for passage on behalf of our public employee benefit plan clients.

I regularly counsel and advise business owners, human resource managers and management employees on all aspects of the employment relationship including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, firing, wage and hour issues, discrimination issues, ADA, FMLA and FLSA compliance, employee discipline and discharge issues.  I draft , revise and/or  employee handbooks and regularly counsel clients on maintaining compliance with federal and state laws.  I work extensively in drafting and reviewing contracts in general whether they be for employment services or other areas of law.   I'm well versed in drafting and enforcing non-compete agreements for both employers and employees.

I am certified by the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association (FPPTA), as a Certified Public Pension Trustee and regularly lecture at their Trustee Education Schools. I have been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine, as a Florida Rising Star for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 in the field of Employee Benefits Law.  I was selected as a Top Up and Comer in Labor & Employment Law by South Florida Legal Guide, 2016 Edition.
