Divorce and child custody case

Before he filed my divorce case I was promised a lot of things, but after I paid his retainer, he did not keep his promises. It was very difficult to reach out to him. On a positive, I must admit that he worked out a great divorce agreement, however, I changed my mind about accepting the divorce a...greement, and he said: " you accept this or I withdraw from the case" Well, I ended firing him, but I still gave him the chance to withdraw from the case, and he did. I did not wanted to be so rude and fire him in our court system. He could have done a much better job, but he didn't. If you are reading this Jorge, you know very well that what I have said here is the whole true.

Great to get you to hire him, but unprepared, weak, embarrassing to say the least

When I first met Mr. Gonzalez seemed to be interested in my case, to help me....he sounded knowledgeable, experienced, and expensive. I left his office very happy to say the least, I was sure I made the right choice. What a surprise! His way to get me prepared for my alimony case, a super important... event in my life, happened on a phone call, nothing like he said, "we were going to meet and review everything first". If I did not call his office not even that phone call would had happened. The day of our hearing he told me we will get together an hour before the meeting to make sure we are all in the same page, guess what? he showed up 7 minutes late, I thought I was going in by my self....we had to wait for him. Let me add that his office called me to make a payment, it had to be paid before Mr. Gonzalez showed up to court. During the trial, my ex-wife got very sentimental, her acting was great. I asked Mr. Gonzalez if I too should show my true feelings to the judge, since I was being punished for being a good husband and provider, he said NO. Mr. Gonzalez was quite most of the time, my ex-wife's attorney really kicked his butt, I mean all over the court room. After being all humiliated, embarrassed, he told me these words, "we lost because she cried, got very emotional in front of the judge". Sometimes expensive does not mean the best, like in this case. After we lost, that day he wanted me to pay the balance I owed him, another 5 hours, and about $600 to get a copy of the transcript to look for defaults the judge made. Not only this has caused me to loose an important case in my life, but it has depleted me of funds I use for my daily life. I have a strong feeling I could have done a better job defending my self with honesty and more integrity. Please, do not hire this attorney if you have an important case to defend. Alimony reform needs to happen now.

Weak Lawyer with a extremely incompetent staff!!

I went to seek representation from Mr Gonzalez regarding a case where I was seeking custody of my children due to years of the mother neglecting the children's needs. He is personable unlike his Bird Road staff super incompetent and unprofessional. He asked me for a retainer I paid it and we continu...ed. He represented me throughout the case until the end when I received temporary custody of my children. Which I received them due to the mother not appearing to the hearings and lack of compliance with the judges rulings . Which was not in anyway due to Mr. Gonzalez's performance in a court room. My reason for this review is to educate other before making an error In retaining this lawyer. His firm took advantage of me / client at a crucial stage of their case. Their practices lack of follow through and moral work ethic is a joke and extremely frustrating.... I called his office over twenty times (for three seperate issues about my case) informing them I needed their assistance with NO return call ever! Now that the mother is trying to fight for her children back by obtaining another lawyer and he now has to do some real litigation he threw me a curve ball and billed me over $3500.00 in legal fees and a new retainer to be paid in 7 days! When I received my itemized bill the retainer had been exhausted 3 months earlier. I questioned his office on why they didnt inform me of the retainer being exhausted prior so i could setup a payment plan? That is poor pay roll issues on his end and due to their error I now had to pay this large sum instead of a fraction.. He himself couldn't even call me back when I went to speak with him in person at his office to question what had happened. Instead they removed themselves as my representation before the deadline of payment leaving me in a real bind after all my efforts to obtain timeshare with my children. I wouldn't recommend this law firms services to my own enemies.

ABSOLUTELY NOT THE LAWYER FOR YOU

After months of being unable to see my child I decided to acquire legal representation to acquire visitation rights. In March of 2011 I did so. I am currently the petioner in this case. Yes, I said currently. Now, about a year and a half later I have still not solved any issues I started with besides... being able to see my child. Mr. Gonzalez does not fight for you. In fact, when in court the only words that I have heard come out of him are "I Agree". As I stated I am the petitioner, but defenitely feel like the defendant that is not being defended. All I wanted was visitation, for my name to be placed on my child's birth certificate, and for my child to receive my last name. I see my child every other weekend and that's it. I recently received a settlement agreement that is beyond rediculous. The defendant is asking for a monthly amount that is more than what I earn. I have not received a call from Mr. Gonzalez. All I received was an e-mail asking me to review and approve the agreement. No customer service what so ever. Never focuses on your case. The truth is as rediculous as it may sound, your better off going to court on your own. Acquiring Mr. Gonzalez as your attorney is like showing up to a gun fight with a swiss army pocket knife. I will be acquiring a new attorney and advise you do so as well if you have already retained him.
