AV RATED PREEMINENT BY MARTINDALE HUBBEL
BEFORE RETURNING TO MIAMI (1980 - 1986):
Jay J. Lorenzo worked in the Law Department of KBR,Inc. (formerly Brown & Root in Houston,Texas) an American engineering , procurement and construction company , formerly a subsidiary of Haliburton. In 1998 Halliburton acquired the engineering interest of Dresser Industries which merged with Brown and Root to form Kellogg Brown & Root. Initially Mr. Lorenzo was responsible for the legal review of all Brown & Root procurement agreements throughout the projects located across the United States. Subsequently, he was selected by the Associate General Counsel to assume contract negotiations on a foreign project in the Middle East. During the next several years Mr. Lorenzo traveled extensively overseas on the various aspects and phases of the project. In 1984, he became the lead legal department liaison with Brown & Root's team of engineers to travel to London to help negotiate the final phase of the primary contract for the Middle East client. The total dollar value of the contract was $5 Billion Dollars. In late 1986, after execution of the contract Mr. Lorenzo returned to Houston, Texas. Shortly after he decided it was time to get back to his family, friends and hometown in Miami, Florida.
MIAMI, FLORIDA ( 1986 TO PRESENT):
Upon returning to Miami, Mr. Lorenzo joined an old friend in his law practice. In 1987, Mr. Lorenzo established Lincoln Title Company assuming the role of President and CEO. Mr. Lorenzo became a title agent with American Title which subsequently merged into Fidelity National Title Insurance Company.
During the 90's:
Mr. Lorenzo formed his own law firm now known as Lorenzo Law Miami. During this time Mr. Lorenzo was awarded a government contract representing the U.S. Marshall Service to dispose of over 300 Rico Forfeiture properties which consisted of complex title issues emanating from the laundering and illegal acts committed by the defendants who forfeited the properties. The majority of the cases required curative title work or suits to quiet title and sunstantial hours of researching the Federal Courts to obtain the pertinent documents, warrants and pleadings neccessary to clear the title issues. It was also during this time that Mr. Lorenzo requested the assistance of Fidelity National Title to formulate a new pro forma title commitment that would address all of the necessary requirements that would involve insuring these properties. Up through this time Title Underwriters were very reluctant to insure forfeitures. As part of this process Mr. Lorenzo headed a Florida Bar Committee that created the first uniform title insurance commitment for Rico Forfeitures. Mr. Lorenzo was asked by Fidelity National Title to become one of it's outside litigation counsel to handle claims defense litigation and did so for seven years.
2021

Mr. Lorenzo also continues to act as outside General Counsel for a local Miami Community Bank.

I am please to recommend for your consideration Mr. Jay J. Lorenzo attorney at law. Mr. Lorenzo has a long unblemished career and proven track record in handling all type of residential and commercial closing at our institution, he exceed all of our expectations.
"Jay and I have worked together on several matters. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and professional, but honest. He is quick to give all available options to the clients and meticulously run them through the pros and cons."
"Jay Lorenzo was opposing counsel on a hotly contested foreclosure matter. He is a very talented intelligent attorney and excellent advocate for his clients' interests. Jay is a straight shooter and a pleasure to work with."
"Attorney Lorenzo closed a complex commercial transaction that had some significant challenges. When we showed up to closing, I had some concerns and wanted to put together an agreement between the parties at the last minute. He sat, listened thoughtfully, gave in where he could, and stood his ground where he could not. He (and Maribel Campo) were a pleasure to work with. Mr. Lorenzo is exactly the kind of person I would want representing me, if I were selling my property. He exhibits a gentility, civility and professionalism that is rarely seen in this area. I got the impression he was committed to saving his client money (which is refreshing when it seems like all lawyers want to do is find ways to bill and make the client pay more.) He has a confidence that can only be acquired from having seen every possible scenario play out through the years. He's seasoned enough to know exactly what to do, but not SO seasoned, that he's become bitter and jaded. Highly recommend."
