Why would a divorce lawyer grant 3 continuances, go on vacation twice and promise things and then doesn’t follow through . Her team is completely unorganized and kept loosing all my paperwork . She took my retainer , went on vacation and 6 months later I’m in the same position i was when i hired her ...initially .I am a woman that did not have many resources. She was very disrespectful towards me being a victim of Domestic Violence and offered horrible counsel that only helped my Ex husbands lawyer prepare a better case against me .

I’ve been using Mary Pena for years. She has helped my husband get out of his previous alimony obligation to his ex-wife and now he has his children full time. She is excellent in the court room and extremely reasonable in her legal fees. While other attorneys were quoting us 5k retainers she was abl...e to assist us at half of that. She’s a win win all around.

Unfortunately I did not read the previous review by Michael C. on the Yellow Pages website. He hit the nail on the head. I was never provided billing statements, but was constantly asked for more money with no results. After a long drawn out case, and nearly becoming bankrupt, I sought out anothe...r lawyer who was able to finish my case with a couple phone calls to the other counsel and settled out of court. Mary was very negligent in my case, she always waited last minute to file any paperwork or ask me for documents for any requested info. She responded to a motion tardy in my case and caused me to pay for my ex's attorney's fees because of it. I would avoid using her at all costs! When I did finally get an invoice, she was very defensive when I questioned some of the information on there and provided proof that the length of those calls were a fraction of what was billed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Do not trust the future of your family on her defending you.

Mary was my second and fourth attorney during my divorce. My first attorney just wanted to squeeze money out of me and had no clue what to do. The third attorney that ended up being a bluff and did not pursue mine and my children's best interest, he left me in very bad situation and asked for money j...ust to talk to me after he screwed up. Mary is great! to say the least. She has been by my side on a vary contentious divorce against an attorney and an ex that only wanted to destroy me and or drive me crazy. She saved not only my Life but my sanity. She is an exceptional intelligent attorney whose's priority is the customer and not the money. She was recommended to me by a -former police officer- colleague after a domestic violence attack from my former husband. She is very well respected by Judges and Magistrates. An excellent attorney that is willing to address more than one thing at the time, if it saves you money. She will look out for your best interest and will advise you strategically on how to proceed. While with other attorneys you have the feeling they want to make a "profit" meaning charge you in excess of the service they provide (Service is less than Cost), Mary is fair, I never had the feeling of being charged for something she did not do (Service = or more than Costs). In sum "Mary is the attorney you want by your side in good times, but even more in hours of difficulty, not matter how bad" the situation or circumstance she will not abandon you.
