Extremely unprofessional

Do not hire this Joycelyn. Months into the process she stopped responding and was absolutely the worst. In the beginning she complained to me about her other clients who were crazy and unreasonable. I should have taken that as a sign. Later on it became clear she's the real problem. I sympathize with... her many personal issues but there's really no excuse for months of non communication and missed deadlines on a professional level. She should not be allowed to continue practicing law.

Pleasure to Work With

I retained IPS Legal in 2020 to assist me with a patent application. Not only was she highly knowledgeable, but she took the time to thoroughly explain the process to me. She kept me up to date with the timeline and it was seamless from start to finish. I have sent her many referrals and will gladly ...send more.

ignorant of the law, unprofessional only hired because of her "diversity" F-, avoid at all cost.

This attorney should be disbarred in my opinion. She does not know the law, is very unprofessional and frankly was only hired due to quotas dealing with her so called " diversity" I would avoid this women at all cost and get yourself a real attorney.

Total Disaster for my Patent

This is a little late and maybe she is better now, I just happen to come across this name in my phone and google'd her just for the hell of it. In 2016 I hired Joycelyn to file a patent for my invention the CapBox which is doing amazing now, no thanks to the huge delay and inconvenience called by wo...rking with Joycelyn. I would have written a review long ago, but I was so angry at the time, that I probably could not have conducted or expressed myself in a civilized manner. I payed Joycelyn to file my patent, I gave her about a 50% deposit of a $5500 job if my memory serves me correct. I submitted to her everything that she asked for drawings pictures, etc., for months nothing was done and finally she called to say she was submitting my patent. After she submitted my patent she gave me a reference # but nothing else. At the time my knowledge on the patent procedure was zero to none. She never gave me the specifications (claims document) or asked me to sign or apply for the Mico Entity. Fast forward months later on a Monday Morning I woke up with my Patent on my mind, something told me to call the Patent office with the reference number I received from Joycelyn. I called and inquired and the patent officer informed me that the Specification or the Micro Entity had not been filed. Only that an application had been submitted with no further requirements and that a letter had been sent out 90 days prior and that 90 had ended on that Saturday of the weekend past. He told me that since 90 days fell on a Saturday that I could file the Specification and Micro Entity before 12am. Of course at that time I had very little clue about what any of those things were. I frantically reached out to Joycelyn who did not answer and so I had to send text messages to finally get an answer. She then reassured me that somehow it must have not submitted electronically and she had it on her computer and submit it. I was naive and took this as an honest mistake. Boy was I wrong, I asked her to send me an email as soon as it was submitted and to include whatever documents were being submitted that night. I woke up the next morning and surely enough there was absolutely no email. No email to say she did not submit and no email of submission. I called her around 9am no answer, I text her no answer, she did not get back to me until almost 3pm that day. When she finally got to me, she told me her computer crashed, yes her computer crashed (I can't make this up, really). I was furious, but kept my wits about things, I didn't believe one single thing she said but I was already waist deep now. I express my concerns and how upset I was. She apologized and said since she had already done the work that it should be easy for her to rewrite the Specification. So I let her try again, she said it would be 2 weeks, 2 weeks came and went and nothing. Gave it a few days reached out to her and guess what now she was not taking my calls. I sent numerous emails almost daily, text messages all professional and business appropriate. No reply, then finally I get a reply one day when I was off and called several times. Then it was 2 more weeks and that turned to 4 more. I probably wasted another 10 weeks from the initial debacle before I reached out to one of her attorney friends to contact her and talk to her because I was beyond mad. I sent an email threatening to write a letter to the FL bar and a text to go with it. Finally she agreed to refund my money and then could not pay me in one lump sum. I hired another attorney and my patent was done in a year. I have two businesses and have never experienced anything like this ever in any dealing with anyone. I know this story so well because I still tell it to this day and how I cannot believe that anything or anyone could do business this bad especially not an attorney. Maybe she is better now, but it is hard to believe that you can go from that to the reviews I have read. Good Luck it made me put 1 star

I am sorry that you had this experience. Although I do not recall the facts as you have recited them, nor does your file reflect the facts as recited, I am glad that you found a resolution and was able to obtain a patent for your invention. I am also happy to hear that your invention has experienced commercial success. As the founding partner of IPS Legal Group, I pride myself on maintaining constant contact and communication with our clients. I apologize if you experienced anything less than stellar service.
