I hired Ms. Bismarck to help me with a jurisdictional case and paternity action against my ex. I am originally from Iowa and what immediately caught my attention was seeing that Ms. Bismarck is also originally from the Midwest. Midwestern values and qualities hold strong in my personal opinion. After... further review, it became very apparent that Ms. Bismarck is an expert in her field. I met with Astrid after attempting to file for full custody of my child pro se for about a year. The only reason I felt I needed to hire a lawyer was because my son's father decided - right before he defaulted on the case - to hire a lawyer of his own. Suffice it to say that I was angry, bitter, an...d distraught when I went to see Astrid for the first time. However, in less than an hour, I immediately felt comfortable. She was knowledgeable and straight-forward, telling me what I needed to hear, not necessarily what I wanted to hear. My first impression of her was right on. Although I liked Astrid from the start, I was really impressed when we had to go to mediation. She may be tiny and look unassuming, but she was a pit bull - and I mean that in the most flattering light possible. For a client, that is exactly what you want in a lawyer: someone who will fight to get you what you deserve. Astrid did just that. Not only did I receive legal custody of my child, which was the main thing I was worried about, but she got the other party to agree to terms that never even crossed my mind to ask for: back child support, a time-sharing agreement 100 percent in my favor...she even thought to make the father take out a life insurance policy with my son as the benefactor! I didn't even realize that was a thing! Even my parents, who witnessed the struggle I went through since my son was born. were floored by the job she did. I can't say enough about her. If I had to do it all over again, I would only change one thing: I would have sought out Astrid sooner. Yes, she has the experience, and that's a huge plus. But if you're seeking a lawyer that is in tune to your needs and wants, is confident (yet civil) enough to go toe-to-toe with anyone, and will actually spend considerable time and effort to win your case, I would recommend Astrid in a heartbeat.
