Legal Lotus, P.A. is a Miami-based law firm focusing on the areas of Family Law, Civil Litigation, and the drafting of contracts. The Firm is founded on the principals of fairness and honesty, focusing on our client's needs and best interests before anything else. We serve our clients diligently while guiding, educating and supporting them throughout the legal process.
Legal Lotus, P.A. was founded by third-generation attorney, Anna Fernandez. Ms. Fernandez, a Miami-native, graduated from La Salle High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida International University in 2007. Ms. Fernandez graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law and is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
At St. Thomas University School of Law, Ms. Fernandez was a member and competitor of the State Championship Trial Team, competed in several local trial competitions and was recognized at the national trial level, competing in the American Bar Association's Section of Labor and Employment Law's 2010 Mock Trial Competition. In addition to her successful trial team background, Ms. Fernandez was elected to serve on the Executive Board for the Public Interest Law Students' Association, where she organized and lead several outreach projects at The Ronald McDonald House, Camillus House, Crandon Park Beach Clean-up and many other locations around South Florida. Ms. Fernandez was also a member of the Cuban American Student Bar Association.
Prior to founding the Firm, Anna Fernandez worked with her father and mentor, Luis Fernandez, heading his firm's Civil and Family divisions, where she gained courtroom experience and exposure in several complex legal areas including contested divorces and children issues such as relocation and child support, breach of contract matters, and election law disputes. Ms. Fernandez continues to work along side her father as of counsel for the Law Offices of Luis Fernandez, P.A. and has made several TV appearances together. Ms. Fernandez credits her strong work discipline, and moral and ethical values to her father.
Ms. Fernandez also worked for Florida Keys-based firm, Hershoff, Lupino, & Yagel, LLP (HLY), handling Family Law Issues and disputes concerning real estate contracts and property rights. Through HLY, Ms. Fernandez expanded her knowledge in different areas of the law under the supervision of Mr. James S. Lupino, Esq, partner of HLY, to whom she credits for obtaining invaluable skills in legal research and on running a business.
In addition to running a practice, Ms. Fernandez is a member of the City of Miami's Equal Opportunity Advisory Board (EOAB), which reviews employment policies and practices of the City of Miami, and makes recommendations to the Personnel Department through ordinances, resolutions, and other proposals relating to the City's affirmative action program.
Ms. Fernandez is also the co-founder of the non-profit organization Business Educational Assistance for Tomorrow, Inc. (BEAT). BEAT's mission is to assist the adolescence, adult and the elderly to develop their potential by aiding in scholastic training, education and promotion of classes, with emphasis on housing, socioeconomic issues, and personal financial matters.
Ms. Fernandez is an advocate for animal rights and is a current member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL), the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA), and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
