Sergio Cabanas was born in Puerto Rico to a Cuban family forged in resilience and hope. When the Castro regime seized their family farm, his parents fled Cuba determined to start over. In their new life, his father taught him the value of hard work and the power of education, lessons Sergio carried with him always.
While his siblings chose medicine, Sergio felt a powerful pull toward justice, becoming the first lawyer in his family. But his journey was deeply personal. As a child, he lived through a painful divorce that tore him away from the father he loved. The experience left a lasting wound and sparked a lifelong promise:
“If I ever become a lawyer, I won’t let what happened to my family happen to anyone else.”
