Collett P. Small is the founder of the Elder Law Firm of Collett P. Small, P.A. She is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a Specialist in Elder Law. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Florida International University and her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law.
Ms. Small is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs. She serves on the Executive Council of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar as Chair Elect of the section. She also serves on the Florida Bar Diversity and Inclusion Standing Committee. She is on the Board of Directors for the Weston Bar Association. Ms. Small is past chairperson for both the Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Law School Liaison Committee for the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar. She is a member of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and Florida State Guardianship Association. She also serves as a court appointed attorney with the state of Florida Justice Administrative Commission for guardianship cases in Broward County.
Ms. Small writes articles that address elder law issues, and she frequently gives speeches and lectures in the community in the area of Elder Law. Attorney Small is very active in the community, and is a member of the School Advisory Counsel for Broward County Public Schools. She also volunteers at local law schools, and serves as a mentor to law students and new attorneys.
Prior to establishing her own firm, Ms. Small, worked as an insurance defense attorney in Palm Beach. She also worked as an intern with the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals. Prior to law school Ms. Small enjoyed a successful career as a Bank Manager with two major financial institutions.
When she is away from the office she enjoys traveling, competing in marathons, gardening and spending time with family.
