Rian is an experienced tech, privacy, and online business attorney, legal consultant, and published author. Kinney Firm represents and advises founders and businesses of every size, from freelancers to enterprise; across industries in the areas of intellectual property, e-commerce, privacy and corporate law, as well as business and marketing strategy.
Actively engaged in the Open Source and WordPress communities, she has spoken at conferences nationally and internationally on topics ranging from “The Future of Open Source” to “How to CYA Your Site” and “The Key Differences Between EU and US Privacy Law”.
Rian has served as Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's Open Source Software Committee, in the the Section on Science and Technology, since 2019. She also holds the International Association of Privacy Professionals’ CIPP/E and CIPM designations.
