Waste of money

Communication was horrible. Ended up hiring another lawyer mid case because he was incompetent and seemed to just want to end the case as quickly as possible. Clients best interest was absolutely not in mind. Only time he made sure to be communicative was when asking for a payment. New lawyer cleaned... up his mess and ended up being the best decision we made. Maybe he is great for personal injury but for criminal defense he is not someone I would recommend.

This client was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. The event happened in 2016 but this review was posted September 30, 2018. Why so long? Because that’s when this client was finally released from jail! He did time, now he’s on 3 years of felony probation, and he’s a convicted felon for life. So how did his new attorney clean up a mess? During my representation of this client, I filed a Writ of Mandamus with the Second District Court of Appeals. Most criminal defense attorneys have never filed an extraordinary writ with a District Court and wouldn’t even know how. I do it whenever the occasion arises. It was a lot of work and I didn’t charge extra for it. I even ate the cost of filing the writ. After the writ, I took the depositions of four witnesses. Each witness stated that this client was the aggressor in a road rage incident. The victim tried to get away and parked at a store. This client turned around, came back, got out and pointed a gun at the victim’s head. Two of the witnesses were completely independent and knew no one involved. A jury would be most likely to believe the two independent witnesses. So that’s a very difficult trial to win. I suggested a plea instead of a trial. This client couldn’t face the truth, so he hired a new lawyer who continued the case for six months and then plead the client guilty to jail and probation. I did way more work than the new lawyer did. As to the issue of communication, most of the time I had to speak with the client’s girlfriend because this guy was so emotional that he would refuse to get on the phone. Unfortunately, in criminal law, sooner or later you end up representing someone like this client who can’t be trusted to act appropriately in society or to show up in life with honesty.

An attorney that you can trust!!

I was referred to Matt on a real estate problem. All though it is not the scope of his expertise, he advised me how to remedy my problem before seeing him, he did not try to get me to his office and get money from me, his advice was spot on. And done on the phone with no fees, my problem remedied and... Matt received nothing for it. One of a kind. Do not hesitate to use him for your legal needs. Straight up and trustworthy, thanks again Matt I am back in my home.

VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ATTORNEY- DON'T LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE

I have known Matthew Leibert over 8 years and thankfully have never needed his services until now. I called him on a weekend, and he helped me with how to proceed with a very old traffic ticket I had received in the mail. 2 year old traffic ticket! He handled it right away with no hesitation and wo...rks mostly by referrals. Don't waste your time and money with over priced crooks who only care about taking your money, Matthew is the best out there and his track record proves it. I was very grateful for his advice and recommend him highly. Thanks again Matthew.

If I need an attorney again, he will be the first attorney I will contact.

I hired Attorney Leibert last year for a car accident. He gave me his cell phone number and was always available to him. I texted him frequently and he always immediately replied. He won my case and I was awarded a substantial amount of money. If I need an attorney again, he will be the first attor...ney I will contact. Tracey G.
