Beware and Stay Away

All I can say is be weary and do not grant this Attorney carte blanch at his exorbitant fees. I was appalled to discover additional charges at runaway rates, followed by a lawsuit from this guy, who is relentless when it comes to going after his own clients, expecting them to have an endless sea of ...funds. Yes, he has many years of experience, but do not let that fool you into submission and signing of his contracts...read each and every word as his contracts are primarily designed to protect only his best interests, from my experience. I can truly say that your best bet is not to just stay away, but do your research and dont be caught up in the hype and incredibly high fees and retainers.

Unfortunately when clients have a bill that they do not want to pay they try to do anything they can to get out of paying their obligation. This particular client did not provide documents that he was required to provide on a timely basis which required our office to do much more work than would be normally necessary. The client received periodic statements reflecting the time that was spent on his case and there was nothing that he was charged with that was not previously agreed to by him. I hope he is performing better for his next Attorney who I know will not stand for a client who fails to provide required documents on a timely basis. An update to this Answer. The client contacted me recently to apologize and he paid his bill. He had hired another attorney to represent him in our fee dispute and spent a lot of money and got no where. We have parted on good terms and I wish him luck.

"I endorse Gary Israel and refer clients to him because I got to observe him after working at the same firm with him about a year before I opened my own firm. He's no-nonsense, aggressive, and gets the job done. He's experienced and knows what he's doing. He's also a good person and cares about his clients. I will continue to refer divorce matters to him."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
