THE ADOPTION PROCESS CAN BE STRESSFUL, BUT LINDA MADE OUR DREAM A REALITY
Yes, the adoption process can be stressful and it may have moments of ups and downs. With that being said, I am so thankful intrusting Linda with our adoption. Her passion and commitment to both the birthmother and us overshadowed the challenges of the adoption process. We are so grateful and thankful to Linda and her staff. I am also thankful for a referral from a co-worker who used Linda for her adoption. Everyday I hold my daughter in my arms, I can not express the appreciation and gratitude we have for Linda. She made our dream come true!!!

Adoption in Orlando
Linda and her assistant (Jody) were the best possible adoption lawyer service we could imagine. Not only did they match us with a great birthmother/baby, but they went above and beyond the normal course of what we would expect for their duties to ensure the mother/baby were safe in tough circumstances, and understood how important this adoption was to our family. They always proactively called/emailed us to ensure we were aware of next steps, concerns and educating us on the process. We found out about the selection in early September, and had the baby home by early October. The birthmother also thought a lot of Linda and her team and that made her very comfortable in working with us throughout the process. Extremely smooth and we can't thank them enough for their tireless efforts in a successful adoption.

the most perfect outcome
Linda and team made my dream of motherhood a reality. I was connected with Linda in August 2013, matched in September, and my beautiful son was born in late October. I will be forever grateful to Linda and her staff for giving me a fairy-tale, happily-ever-after ending to my 2+ year journey.

Cant put into words our happiness!
My husband and I started our journey 4 years ago with visiting fertility doctor #1. After months of unsuccessful treatments and heartbreak we moved on to doctor #2. Doctor #2 was convinced he could get us pregnant. 3 years later and still heartbroken we found ourselves wondering what our next step would be. We were so ready to be parents and the doctors had no answers for us. Friends of ours had adopted. We met for dinner and started our journey with adoption center #1. We developed our birth mother book, got our background checks done and completed our home study. We expedited everything so no time was wasted and then waited and waited and waited. The adoption center didn't call and wasn't very informative when we called. That's when a friend casually mentioned to a co-worker that we were trying to adopt. "Really?" he replied. I adopted my son and loved my attorney, your friends should try her. We received Linda's contact information. She was open and responsive to our call, answered all our questions and, importantly, was a calm in our multi-year storm. We had our initial call with Linda in July. We met our birth mother in September and our son was born in October. It was a quick end to our very long journey! Our birth mother was amazing, caring, thoughtful and open. For our initial adoption experience, it was wonderful and Linda and her team were there every step of the way. I don't think I can accurately capture in words how I feel about our adoption experience. I cry every time I tell the story. I had my girlfriends in tears at my shower. We're a family and we have Linda and her team to thank. The only thing we could think to add is adoption experience #2 with Linda and a little girl :).

Adoption isn't easy. Your attorney should be your advocate.
Linda and her staff are the reason that I am a mother. Yes, Linda is a busy attorney but clients are not left without support. Her staff provides excellent service and ensures that all of your questions are answered in a timely manner. Linda is very experienced with adoption, birth parents and waiting families. During my adoption process, I felt she really advocated for me and worked towards a successful outcome for everyone.

Highly Recommended
My husband and I adopted our son through Linda Barnby last year and our experience was nothing short of incredible. Linda and her assistant Jody were extremely knowledgeable about adoption and an invaluable resource to us throughout the entire process. If we decide to adopt again, we would not hesitate to return to Linda.

She charges for E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G
We were matched with a young woman for 16 weeks before the 21 year old changed her mind at the beginning of her 3rd trimester. Linda kept nearly $19,000 of the funds we sent and said we REALLY owed her more like 25k but that she would "wave" the additional amount we still owed. Keep in mind, this finalized adoption was estimated, by her, to cost 31k. She is good at math when she's tallying up her time..... but very POOR at the math when presenting a case to you. If you send funds you will never see them again because she has about 4 ways to get paid in her contract.. . . . . . . if you happen to sneeze while talking to Linda.... and she stops to say 'God Bless You'... just know she charged you for that.

I'm a birth mother
I went through Linda by placing my son up for adoption. Now...if your a birthmother and considering giving up your child Linda is never to busy to take your call or in a meeting. I agreed on an open adoption . To get letters and pics a couple of times a year. Its been over two years since i have received anything. I have called her office and met with attitude and no returned phone calls. I generally wait a few months after I call to see if a letter will come...but nothing. I can't express the betrayal I feel. I was told by Linda when I signed my child over that if I had any concerns to call her . The only thing I want is what we agreed to . Pics and letters. That it. Is that to much to ask? And what about the adoptive parents here? Why haven't they sent anything? Linda apparently is to busy to return my calls and to busy to inform the parents to send what they agreed on. I gave them a gift...a human being....my son. They can't send updates and Linda is acting this way by not returning any of my calls? I am not being unreasonable here. Birthmothers beware. Your just dollar signs to this woman. Expect no support after she gets your baby.

Terrible Experience
Choosing to work with Linda Barnby was the biggest mistake we ever made. She matched us with a mentally unstable birth mother desperately in need of counseling - she did not offer counseling to this woman. The birth mother also had previous biological children removed from her care by the state, but Linda did not tell us this. Ultimately, the birth mother changed her mind about us and chose a single mom as the adoptive parent 3 weeks before her due date. Not only did Linda charge us for legal fees, but she included non-legal related expenses in our bill. For example, she billed us $300/hr for 5 hours while helping the birth mother find a bed. This adoption failed over 12 months ago and we have yet to recover any money from Linda. She has been unresponsive when we questioned her billing practices. We have had to seek additional legal assistance to recover a small portion of our money. Adoption is a difficult process even when you have honest, appropriately trained professionals to work with. Linda Barnby is neither.

regrettable decision
I worked with Ms. Barnby when I was first trying to adopt and hiring her was one of the most regrettable decisions I have made. She behaved in a way that was very dishonest and unprofessional. She made many decisions that left me unprotected from the birth mother. She did not act in my interest. I strongly do no recommend that you hire her.

Disappointing
I worked with Linda Barnby while in the process of adopting and I do not recommend her to other prospective adoptive parents. My greatest concerns with Ms. Barnby have to do with the way she handled the adoption finances. The birth mom that Ms. Barnby partnered me with ultimately changed her mind and decided to parent her baby. Unfortunately for me, the birth mother expenses were quite high, and Ms. Barnby opted to give money that was budgeted for the 6 weeks post delivery to the birth mom ahead of time. She did this without consulting me, and I was unable to recoup that amount once the adoption didn't go through. Ms. Barnby also elected to keep her entire legal fee in my case, even though the vast majority of legal work in the adoption (which was to be done AFTER the birth when parental rights are terminated) was never carried out. This made an already devastating experience all the more difficult. I would not recommend that any adoptive parent use Ms. Barnby's adoption services as in my experience, her lack of regard for me and my finances was very disappointing.

very troubling experience
I worked with Linda Barnaby while I was in the process of adopting a child. I found Linda to be very disorganized, unprofessional, and a poor communicator. What was most troubling about my experience with Linda was that she outright lied to me on the phone, in person and in writing numerous times. I have now gone on to adopt a child through another agency that was wonderful and the contrast in this experience and the professionalism was stark. I do not recommend entrusting Linda to assist you on any matters of importance.

DO NOT HIRE HER!
She is the most unprofessional person I have every had to deal with in my entire life. She never returned ANY of my phone calls, emails, or letters. She lied about various things, and was completely rude on the rare occasion I have did speak with her.
