Horrible attorney, clueless at trial
He seemed like he was doing a great job with depositions and everything at the beginning. All he wanted was money and kept pressing my family for his $30,000 fee even after he had been paid over $25k. He completely dropped the ball at trial and seemed like he didn't know what was going on. I wasted ...
I feel for Michael. I don't like to discuss my clients cases with others but when they make inaccurate accusations against me in such a public way I feel that I must defend myself. In 2008 Michael was charged with second degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He killed a man in public with multiple eyewitnesses. Yet I was able to get the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge dismissed and the jury came back with manslaughter only. Upon appeal his case was reversed because of an error by the judge and he was given a new trial. Michael chose to use a different attorney for the new trial. Keep in mind that because I was able to secure a manslaughter only charge, his second trial was for manslaughter. The state could not recharge him for second degree murder again because the jury had specifically found him not guilty of that. With his new attorney Michael was again found guilty of manslaughter. He was sentenced to 20 years and is currently appealing his case. Now, 9 years later, Michael has decided to try to take out his frustrations by harming my name. I certainly did not only "want the money" and "press his family for my fee". As you can imagine this case was very hard on Michael's family. I spent untold hours with his family especially his mother discussing the case and helping them through this ordeal. There was no dropped ball, This trial went on for over a week. One count was dismissed and the other was significantly reduced at trial. Michael has had two jury trials and multiple appeals and now he feels frustrated and angry. A second attorney had the benefit of seeing our first case and how the witnesses presented and what evidence was produced by the state attorney and yet the jury came back with the same conclusion. I do feel for Michael but the fact that he is in prison is not the fault of his attorneys.

Dont retain this lawyer
Ken Andrews agreed to an original plea deal for me then added terms during sentencing without consulting me which resulted in impossible terms that further incarcerated me, so much so that I had to hire two additional lawyers for thousands of dollars to repair the damage Mr. Andrews caused as well as...
I should have know better than to represent this client. He had filed a bar complaint against the prior lawyer on his case. He suffers from mental and emotional issues including paranoia and compulsive obsessive behavior and is incapable of accepting responsibility for his behavior. He was charged with a serious gun related assault and then was later also charged with three stalking charges against the very same witnesses in the assault case. Because of his mental illnesses, he literally couldn't stop himself from harassing them. Although he was facing a mandatory prison sentence, I was able to convince the State Attorney and the Judge that because of his mental health issues he needed to get counseling and that he would be unable to survive in prison and they agreed to a probationary sentence. I was also able to get all three stalking charges dropped even before he was arrested on them. Apparently this was not good enough for this client and he has since blamed me for his ills. He has since harassed me with the same intensity as the conduct that lead to the three stalking charges against him. I initially hesitated to respond to his comments because I know that he will be unable to control himself and feel compelled to further libel and blame me. I fear it will never end. After he violated his probation his mother called me to further represent him in the violation of probation case but I refused and told her I could give her the name of another attorney. Because of his mental health issues it is impossible to reason with this prior client and I have requested that his comments be removed from this website. In the meantime, I believe anyone reading his comments deserve to understand the context of the situation. Unfortunately, the criminal justice system is filled with defendants with mental health problems. This is something all defense attorneys must deal with. I just hope if you are looking for an attorney you won't let this individual's issues stop you from considering me. Thank you.

Great lawyer!! I would absolutely Hire Mr. Andrews again!!
It's hard to choose an attorney these days. It seems they are everywhere and all claim to be the best. Ken was recommended to us by a friend that is very familiar with the legal system and we couldn't be happier with the job he did for us! We hired Ken to help fight 2 felony traffic cases in 2 diffe...
"Mr. Andrews is an exceptional attorney. Although I have been practicing law for 24 years as a judge, magistrate, law professor, prosecutor, and private attorney, I learn from his responses on Avvo every time that he posts. If I needed an attorney, I would hire him. I recommend him with no reservation. It would be the best investment of your life to hire him to represent you."
"I endorse this lawyer. Ken is a former Assistant Chief Counsel for the immigration department (ICE). He has a passion for helping his clients and has the backing of a well respected firm."
