Diana Cohn, a partner at Cohn Slater, is a civil litigator and child advocate with experience in family law and public sector matters.
While serving as Managing Attorney at Children’s Legal Services, she represented the State of Florida in protecting the health and safety of children and the integrity of families. Cohn led the active litigation and prosecution of several hundred legal cases each year. She represented the best interests of Florida’s children in Leon, Jefferson, Wakulla, Gadsden, Franklin, and Liberty counties.
Attorney Cohn developed Leon County’s Early Childhood Court program. She partnered with the judiciary, community partners and opposing counsel to expedite the timely resolution of ECC cases, crafting statewide best practices along the way.
In honor of her service to Florida’s families, Cohn has received several of the state’s top family law accolades, including the Children’s Home Society of Florida Family Champion Award and the DCF Excellence in Child Welfare Award. She was also named a Women of Distinction Award finalist by the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle.
Attorney Cohn’s public sector law experience involved collaboration with the leadership of many state government agencies, including the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), Florida Department of Health (DOH), and Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), and community partners to overcome challenges and formulate strategies that achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties.
Prior to Children’s Legal Services, she represented clients in family law, civil law, and immigration cases at the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic (IPVAC). She worked collaboratively on family law issues with social workers, medical professionals, and community-based advocates.
Cohn also served as judicial clerk of the Family Law Division in Florida’s Eighth Judicial Circuit. She supported the Honorable Judge Mary Day Coker in trials pertaining to divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, dependency, delinquency, and adoption.
Cohn was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and her law degree from the University of Florida. While at UF, she contributed to the Florida Journal of International Law, Journal of Technology Law & Policy, and Florida Entertainment Law Review.
