For more than 30 years, my legal staff and I have represented a broad spectrum of clients. We typically represent CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, HR Directors, Physicians, Medical Device Professionals, Hospital Administrators, Senior Management and many others from Fortune 500 Companies. We have represented our clients in State and Federal courts not only in Jacksonville, but also in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Key West, and other towns and cities in Florida and throughout the Southeast.
I moved to Jacksonville after graduating from law school at UF in Gainesville. I began my legal career working for a large law firm which represented Fortune 500 corporations. That experience led me to start my own firm in 1985, representing employees who have been illegally discriminated against on the job and/or wrongfully terminated. As it has evolved, our practice now focuses on very highly compensated individuals.
With regard to our intake process, when you contact us we will initially ask you to complete an online intake form which I designed so that we can quickly determine whether there is a legal issue that we may be able to assist you with. If so, we will offer to schedule an appointment to meet with you. The intake form can be completed at our firm's website: .
We initially charge an hourly fee to carefully evaluate your case. We will thoroughly review the available evidence and if there is a good faith basis to prosecute your claim, we will discuss the best way to handle the case going forward, with regard to attorneys' fees and expenses. Typically, we require a retainer and require that the client pay his or her own out-of-pocket expenses, or “costs,” going forward. The retainer covers a small portion of our fees with the balance being contingent on our making a recovery on your behalf, on a contingent fee basis. These terms can be discussed during or after the initial consultation, once I know more about your particular circumstances. All of these terms are also explained in writing.
We never agree to represent more than a handful of clients at any given time because we don't want to compromise the quality of care that we provide on behalf of each of our clients. I am personally involved in and responsible for all our cases, from start to finish. All of these matters are explained in greater detail on our firm's website at: .
Our office is located on A1A (also called "3rd Street"), between Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard, near A1A's intersection with 17th Avenue North, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Outstanding Attorney
Scott and his staff have been diligently handling a case for me in the most proficient and professional fashion possible. Scott is a brilliant attorney, as well as being a wonderful human being. Scott’s tremendous knowledge and strong adversary skills place him in the position he needs to be in at ...
"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Scott for many years and have always respected his abilities and commitment to high standards and ethical practice of law. I would have no hesitation in giving him the most glowing of endorsements."
"Scott Fortune is a skille plaintiff's employment lawyer. He is smart, he works hard, and he is an experienced trial lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. I have had the pleasure of reviewing Scott's work following a successful trial in a very difficult discrimination case. I served as the attorney reviewing the amount of his fees in that case. I was very impressed by his thoroughness and diligence. He is known as one of our community's best trial lawyers, and he deserves that reputation."
