I received both my undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. I have been a member of the Florida bar since 2004. I began my legal career as a prosecutor at the State Attorney’s Office in Orlando, where I focused on Domestic Violence Sex Crimes. After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, I taught at Florida Coastal School of Law. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Stetson University. In 2013, I became a nationally certified counselor. Currently, I am a Master in the Florida Family Inn of Court.
I am admitted to practice in the State of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. I focus my practice in the areas of family law matters: divorce, paternity, parenting plans, timesharing (child custody and visitation), child support, spousal support or alimony, modifications of prior judicial or administrative orders, enforcement or contempt proceedings, injunctions, as well as estate planning.

Highly recommended
I initially hired Dyvonnda Thurston to assist with my divorce. It was an incredibly difficult time for me, but Dyvonnda did an excellent job making the process as simple as possible. I then needed her assistance in a matter concerning my child's education. In both instances she made herself readily a...

Extremely professional and thorough attorney.
Ms. Thurston prepared my Last Will & Testament. She was very thorough and respectful. She seemed to cover items that I would have otherwise neglected. I felt very secure that my wishes were covered completely and would recommend this attorney without reservation.

Smart but ineffective
Very smart, but ineffective at either getting a divorce or understanding families.
"Having worked with Dyvonnda, I was thoroughly impressed by her knowledge, advocacy, and passion for the practice of law. She clearly loves what she does and excels at it. I endorse this lawyer."
"I fully endorse Dyvonnda. She is a zealous advocate for each and every client she represents. No matter the issues her clients may be facing, she provides aggressive, yet compassionate, representation every step of the way."
"Dyvonnda and I participate in the same Collaborative Practice group. We both agree strongly that collaborative family law offers a much needed alternative to traditional litigation in many situations. Her background as a former prosecutor, I believe, really helps her to have a healthy, well-rounded perspective that will assist her clients in all types of legal matters. She is intelligent, confident and very personable."
"I endorse this lawyer. A good person and knowledgeable lawyer. No doubt she can help you in a professional and kind manner"
"Dyvonnda Thurston is not only a caring and nurturing counselor, but also a zealous advocate for her clients. I endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer in any practice area. Ms. Thurston is highly intelligent, respectful, ethical and a great asset to the profession."
"Dyvonnda is an excellent attorney. She not only has a thorough understanding of the law, but she also has a very empathetic style. I highly and enthusiastically recommend Attorney Thurston!"
"I am happy to say that when I was a newbie lawyer, Dyvonnda co-counseled my very first trial ever. She has a very calming way about her--especially with frazzled newbies. She's great with people and she also happens to be a very skilled lawyer who is focused on obtaining the best possible result for her clients."
"Dyvonnda is an excellent attorney. As a former prosecutor, she is highly skilled in the courtroom; and as a certified counselor, she has been trained to listen to the needs and wishes of her clients in a way that most attorneys cannot. I have worked side by side with Dyvonnda and know first hand how important her clients are to her."
