Probate - Elective Share for a Spouse

Contacted Mr. Callender for a free consultation concerning filing an elective share claim for a spouse. We never discussed the reason for the free consultation because he became fixated on the method used to obtain legal guardianship of the spouse. He was reminded that the legal guardianship was not ...the issue. He advised if his questions on the legal guardianship were not answered he would not represent me and then ended the conversation. Seek an attorney who will listen to your legal problem and provide recommendations. Also, avoid attorneys who advertise flat or fixed fees on their website then only quote hourly fees like Mr. Callender does.

This was posted not by a client, but by a prospective client. In the course of an initial interview with a prospective client, it is useful to determine whether he or she will answer direct questions about pertinent matters within his or her narrative. Failure to respond indicates that our communication styles are not compatible. I regret that this poster had an experience that left her unsatisfied.

pleased client

John is an intelligent, genuine attorney who knows the law. John was very practical and did a fine job of making the law understandable. He has a confident personality in court and even has a great sense of humor. Most importantly, I believe he has his client's best interest in mind and is honest.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
