Biography
I grew up in the American West in Colorado and Montana. From an early age, I wanted to be a lawyer. My upbringing included working long hours on the family ranch. The ranching work ethic allowed me to succeed, first in law school, and later as a practicing attorney. After marrying a fourth generation Northeast Florida native, Northeast Florida became my home.
My undergraduate education focused on the study of law. As an undergraduate, I was fortunate to study under Sherman Finesilver the then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and constitutional law scholar, Norman Provizer. Following my undergraduate education, I attended the University of Denver (a top tier law school) graduating a semester early.
I enjoy the practice of family law, not only for the complex legal problems presented by the practice, but for the ability to work with people by assisting them through difficult periods of their life.
A Personalized Approach to Family Law and Divorce
I work with you to develop an individualized approach to your case. Each case is unique, just like every client is unique. When you hire me, I serve as your point of contact throughout the representation. Unlike many larger firms, your case will not be assigned to a younger attorney or paralegal. When you have a concern, I am there for you as your lawyer. I will know you and the facts of your case when you call, text or e-mail. I limit my caseload and overhead (while using technology to streamline my workflow) with the goal of providing better and more personalized service.
My Approach to Family Law and Divorce Cases
My practice philosophy is to first seek amicable resolution without over litigating cases. Typically, cases that settle early cost less and preserve working relationships between the parties. This is particularly important when children are involved. As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, I am trained in alternative dispute resolution and put that knowledge to work for my clients.
While philosophy prioritizes achieving the best outcome for you through amicable resolution, I am fully prepared to take your case to trial when necessary. I try several cases a year and attend numerous continuing legal classes, including trial workshops, to be ready when trial is necessary.

Making a hard situation a lot easier
