Patrick J. McGeehan, Esq.
**Criminal Defense Attorney | Retired Homicide Detective | Accident Reconstructionist**
I have spent nearly four decades investigating crimes, examining evidence, and defending individuals whose freedom, reputations, and futures are at stake.
Before becoming a Florida trial attorney, I served as a police officer and homicide detective with the Metro-Dade Police Department. My background includes homicide investigations, traffic homicide investigations, accident reconstruction, forensic evidence, and law enforcement training.
Today, I operate The Law Offices of Patrick J. McGeehan, P.A., in Daytona Beach, Florida, representing clients primarily throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties.
**Criminal Defense**
My practice includes DUI, drug offenses, firearms charges, sex crimes, domestic violence, violent felonies, vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and other serious criminal allegations.
Having worked on both sides of the criminal justice system, I understand how police investigations are conducted, how evidence is collected, and where investigative mistakes can occur. I use that experience to critically examine the prosecution's evidence and protect my clients' constitutional rights.
**Personal Injury & Serious Crash Litigation**
My investigative experience also informs my representation of clients in serious automobile, motorcycle, and commercial truck accidents, catastrophic injury claims, and wrongful death litigation.
**National Media & Legal Commentary**
My legal work has attracted national attention, including coverage on CNN, NBC's TODAY Show, NewsNation, CBS, and other major media outlets.
In September 2026, I accompanied my client, Lindsey Isaacs, to Washington, D.C., where she testified before a U.S. Senate Judiciary subcommittee about investigative failures involving automated license plate reader technology. Lindsey spent 13 days in jail following a wrongful arrest before prosecutors declined to pursue charges.
I also represented Holly Jacobs in pioneering civil litigation involving the nonconsensual distribution of intimate images, a case that received national media attention.
My philosophy is straightforward: **An accusation is not evidence, and an arrest is not a conviction. Every case deserves an independent examination of the facts.**
I believe clients deserve direct communication, thorough preparation, and an attorney who is willing to challenge the government's conclusions.
**"I am your best friend at your worst time!"**

"Not all lawyers are liars"
I retained Mr. Mcgeehan (Patrick) as my divorce attorney. There were 3 attorneys involved including a Guardian ad litem. Patrick was straight forward with his advice and what each step could cost. He didn't drag the case out in order to continue to bill me. The agenda was to get me the same parental ...
"I don't endorse an attorney unless I truly believe they are exceptional. In the time I have worked with Patrick it has become clear to me he is one of those exceptional attorneys. You want this guy on your side. He does amazing work and has earned my utmost respect. Patrick is the real deal and I would recommend him without hesitation."
"I endorse this lawyer. Patrick is a highly skilled attorney. He is well prepared, dedicated and zealously represents his clients."
"Patrick and I worked on a case a few years ago each representing a spouse in a divorce. Patrick did his job and advocated strongly for his client, but was professional and we were able to ultimately settle the case. He is a tough litigator and someone I think a client can count on, but also seemed to look to resolve a case when possible without a court battle."
"Patrick is exceptional. The life experience he brings to Family Law and Criminal Defense is an invaluable resource. We've worked together and as opposing counsel. He is a principled, resourceful and tireless advocate."
"Patrick is an outstanding family and criminal attorney that whom I've had the pleasure of litigating against and referring clients to. While litigating against him, he is an upstanding and worthy opponent who does not needlessly antagonize for the sale of fees. He has assisted clients whom I have referred with criminal, domestic violence , and traffic matters all with an exemplary work ethic and excellent results. I highly endorse this attorney."
"I have known Attorney Patrick McGeehan for nine years. He is committed to achieving the best result for each individual client, whether it be in criminal defense or family law. It is with confidence that I endorse Mr. McGeehan as an excellent advocate and counselor at law. I have collaborated with him on several family law matters, and he consistently brings well prepared arguments to the table. If you need a lawyer, Attorney Patrick McGeehan is the one to call."
