Troy A. Lanier

I have never been involved in a lawsuit in my 65 years. An unscrupulous contractor had completed work for me in the above $50k range. It turned out to be shoddy as the faults were becoming evident not too long after all my checks had cleared. I asked the contractor to stand by what was promised, ...but not delivered, and he refused. Asking other contractors then to evaluate what happened; they revealed I was cheated by gross overcharging for the work done. Also, much of what was done was improper; and cheaper materials were substituted than called for in the original contract for work. After confronting the original contractor, he refused again any accommodation to fix the problems. I hired Mr. Lanier at that time. He had my full trust and confidence immediately! Careful and patient he sifted through my initial emotional ramblings; quickly framed the legal issue; advised to the strength and weakness of my possible litigation; and presented an array of possible outcomes. He presented it all in layman's language. He advised me on all this after initial discussions, evaluation of contracts, photos, his personal viewing of the damage, documents, canceled checks, and other factors. Very thorough. He also, at that time, advised of potential costs, possible duration of, and potential frustrations with the legal wrangling and proceedings. The opposition, two different insurance companies, over many months, used every delay and presented every obstacle in their playbook to deter us from pressing it to a jury. Masterful deposition work and legal filings by Troy. He also appeared on my behalf in court protesting to a judge the delays and demanding a trial date. The end result was court directed mediation as a first step. He masterfully navigated the mediation and provided wise counsel to me during it. I believe ALL that could be fairly obtained for me was. Weighing alternatives carefully, I agreed to settle. When the final accounting was done Troy would have rightfully earned but, nevertheless, would have gotten more cash out of the settlement than I would have as the injured party. He forgave a portion of his earned legal fees to make things more equitable and beneficial to me. A generous act from a selfless man. He checks with me weekly, as there is one loose end about a subcontractor doing work as part of the settlement, which is not yet completed. I have no doubt he will continue to follow up until it is properly closed and what was agreed to by all parties is fulfilled.... exactly. I would not seek out any other lawyer if I needed representation ever again. He is imo the best of the best. I recommend him highly.
