Terrible experience

Rex Abernathy does not communicate at all! My brother hired Rex Abernathy to defend him because he was told by many people that he was the best defense attorney in the state, I have no idea how he achieved this reputation. My brother and his fiance paid Mr. Abernathy $8,000.00 and expected to have a...ctual meetings and at the very least phone communication with the man but instead he left him in the jail for 4 months with no meeting until the day before the court date and then talked him into taking a deal assuring him that if he took a two year deal that he would be out in 3 or 4 months at the most rather than pushing for going to drug rehab which is where he should be to start with. My brother got hooked on drugs and is not a hardened criminal, while he did need to pay for breaking the law it should have been in a rehab program not incarceration. Mr. Abernathy hasn't done one thing to stand up for his client now that he knows the prison is ignoring the judges orders to count the 6 months from intinital time of arrest plus the 4 months he sat in jail waiting on his court date (so much for a speedy trial) as time served towards his 2 year term which would allow him to get out sooner and get help sooner to avoid being drawn back into the situation . Mr. Abernathy also assured my brother would go to a medical prison because he is terminally ill but of course that didn't happen either. I'd like to know what he did to earn his money. He won't return calls or text messages and never shows up, texts or calls back when his staff says he will. If you want good representation please go elsewhwere!!!! Save yourself the hardship!!!!!!!

BEST LAWYER AROUND

Rex Abernathy is the best Defense Attorney in the state of Georgia. My family has hired him on Criminal charges and also on personal injury claims. Mr. Abernathy is very knowledgeable of the law and is highly respected, not only by other Lawyers, Judges, and clients but by Law Enforcement as wel...l. My family has witnessed this all first hand, and we were very lucky to have been able to be represented by Mr. Abernathy. We were pleased with Mr. Abernathy knowledge of the law and how we were kept informed as to what was taking place with our case. I would highly recommend Rex Abernathy and I do so when someone asks if I know a good attorney. Again, He is the best Defense Attorney in the state.!!!! He has won hundreds of cases!!!

Thankful for Mr. Abernathy

Mr. Abernathy has been our families attorney for several years now he has represented myself on personal injury cases as well as criminal matters with my son. He is currently working on a wrongful death case for my family now. If it hadn't been for Mr. Abernathy's knowledge of the law my son could ha...ve been sent off for something he was wrongfully charged with. Rex got the case thrown out against my son. I extremely recommend Mr. Abernathy for any services any one needs. He is the best attorney in state Georgia.

criminal case

I payed this lawyer $15,000 for a criminal case. He never returned phone calls, never let us know what was going on in the case, never let us know of any evidence he may or may not have had, never brought us in to explain anything stating,"he didn't want to get personally involved." Advised us to not... accept a plea bargain with no jail time and ended up not going to trial and receiving a plea bargain with 20 years serve 5. After he received his $15,000, he acted as though he could care less about his client. As far as I know he never even listened to the interrogation tape until the morning of the trial which was to late then to try to defend it. From the time we hired him until the case went to trial (which it never really made it to trial) was 1 year and 4 months during which time he did nothing. Not anything he ever let us know, we were told that he could "blow holes" in the case and had nothing to worry about. All he cared about was getting the money and cared less about his client.

Paid $5,000 and six months later no communication!

I am writing this review on Rex B. Abernathy, an attorney with Cook & Connelly located at 9899 Commerce Street, Summerville, Georgia 30747. This review is based on factual information, which Mr. Abernathy was informed would be conducted if communication was not held with this client by May 13, 2013.... This review is written on May 15, 2013 as I extended Rex Abernathy the professional courtesy of two additional days. In October 2013 I started conducting interviews for an attorney to represent someone for a parole violation. I interviewed numerous attorneys and decided to secure the services of Mr. Abernathy who initially returned phone calls and made himself available prior to receiving any money. Initially, Mr. Abernathy informed me that he would charge a one-time fee of $3,000 but afterwards changed that amount to $5,000, which I agreed to pay. Mr. Abernathy was paid in full the amount of $5,000 during the first week of December 2013. Once payment was received, Mr. Abernathy failed to communicate with his client or me in any form whatsoever other than a two text messages stating he would call on a certain date, which he never fulfilled the last being on May 13, 2013. Since December 2013, there had been 9 messages left at his office (which one was returned by text message informing me not to harass his office staff), 3 facsimiles sent, and over 50 text messages requesting communication. As of the date of this review, Mr. Abernathy has yet to respond fulfill his obligation of communicating with his client. It has been almost six months and Rex Abernathy has failed to communicate with his client by in person visit, phone conference or US Mail and has failed to reach out to me in any form of substance. I have secured the services of many attorneys for business ligation, family law, real estate, and criminal defense that span over 25 years and in the excess of a million dollars in fees. I understand the need in legal matters to be patience and understanding to receive the best outcome. However, after paying an attorney $5,000 and not receiving any form of communication should be a red flag for anyone looking to be represented in a professional manner. I am sharing my experience with this law firm and attorney and you could receive a different outcome if you hire Rex Abernathy. However, I would strongly recommend you do your own due diligence to prevent having the same experience I have had over the past six months.
