Biography

I am a skilled personal injury attorney who practices Georgia personal injury attorney law and North Carolina personal injury law. I have earned significant recoveries for my clients, including several million and multi-million dollar rewards.

I began my career in a large Atlanta law firm where I gained extensive experience defending insurance companies, trucking companies, auto accident defendants and retail business establishments for both injury and commercial litigation cases.

In 2000 I started my own law firm, focusing my practice on the representation of individuals who have suffered a personal injury. Due in part to my background in handling insurance matters pertaining to personal injury claims prior to starting my firm, I have excelled at reaching positive results for my clients in personal injury matters.

Because of my insurance defense background, I have a strong grasp of what is necessary to achieve a good outcome with an insurance company in personal injury matters. Unlike many lawyers who are content to seek an early settlement of a case, I prepare each case for trial in an effort to maximize the recovery for the client.

I have been both lead counsel and co-counsel in a number of significant jury trials in both Georgia and North Carolina. I have experience in many areas of personal injury, as I have tried cases involving wrongful death, catastrophic injury and permanent disability.

My professional accomplishments have been recognized by my peers. In 2003 I was given an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest peer rating for legal ability and ethical standards.

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that motor vehicle crashes are the leading accidental killer of Americans, and the leading cause of death overall for Americans ages two to 34. In 2006, more than 42,000 people were killed in automobile accidents, according to a study by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The same study showed that more than 2.57 million were injured, at a cost of more than $200 billion.

Personal Injury 30%

Personal injury is a legal term for any injury to an individual caused by another person’s carelessness or deliberate actions. Under Georgia law, you may sue for personal injuries caused by: Negligence (extreme carelessness exhibited by a person); Intentional Misconduct (actions that may or may not be criminal, but which caused personal injury); Strict liability (conduct the law says you may sue over regardless of whether you suffered actual harm, often applying to defective product injuries).

Trucking Accident 20%

In a crash between a large truck and a smaller vehicle, the sheer force of the truck’s weight and speed will almost always wreak havoc on the smaller vehicle. For motorists of smaller vehicles, the result is often catastrophic injuries sustained, or in some case loss of life. Statistics from the U.S. Department of Transportation show that 83% of people who died in truck accidents in 2006 were occupants of another vehicle or non-drivers. Only 6% of deaths and 10% of injuries belonged to truckers.

Wrongful Death 20%

Wrongful death is the legal term for a death caused by someone else’s negligence (criminal carelessness) or deliberate act. The death of a pedestrian hit by a drunk driver would be a wrongful death; so would the death of a patient who received the wrong medication from a careless doctor or nurse. In Georgia, the surviving spouses, children, parents and other relatives may sue those responsible for causing a wrongful death. Relatives can recover the “full value of the life” of the deceased.

Making Lemonade from Lemons

I was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident (in 2019) that was not my fault. My first attorney did not have any experience litigating motorcycle cases. He was slow to move on the case and was not looking at all options in terms of recompense. After several months of inaction, I handed my case to... Allen who, from the very first call, made it clear that he was familiar with how to litigate motorcycle cases - he also rides - and identified ways in which we could achieve a better settlement than just the liability coverage of the other driver which covered less than 25% of my medical expenses. Over the course of the next 9 months, Allen did a great job representing me. He was quick to respond to my requests for updates and patient with me when I asked how the process works. (This was my first time pursuing a civil case.) Through his efforts we were able to settle the case without having to go to trial. I am content with the settlement amount and know that I would not have got anywhere close to this had I stayed with the attorney I had originally hired. If you've been in a motorcycle accident, given Allen a call. He definitely knows what he is doing. Thank you Allen and Dale (Allen's paralegal) for all your time, attention and support. I hope not to need your services again, but if I find myself in a similar situation, I will definitely call.

Excellent Representation from Start to Finish

What I liked about having Allen represent me was that he was my lawyer from the first meeting until the verdict was read. And while I was satisfied along the entire journey, I was especially pleased when the verdict was read!
