When I first reached out to Hurley Elder Care Law, it was shortly after our mother had her stroke, and I was seeking guidance on the Medicaid application process. I hesitated to sign up initially due to concerns about the cost. However, it soon became clear that our mother wouldn't be able to return ...home independently or even with home healthcare; she would require round-the-clock nursing home care. Originally, the focus was solely on securing Medicaid and safeguarding my mother’s limited assets. However, what I came to realize through working with Hurley Elder Care Law was the immense benefit of having a dedicated social worker. Kelsie achieved what my brother and I had struggled to accomplish. I also want to mention her compassion and patience when our mother had to sign several legal documents. This is something that can’t be taught, no matter how much training someone has. Not only did she put our mother at ease, but she also reassured both my brother and me. Every dime I spent on Hurley Law was worth it for the exceptional service Kelsie Scott provided for our mother. I’m not sure my words can fully express how my siblings and I feel about what she was able to accomplish in just a few days—things that three educated, middle-aged adult children weren’t able to do over the course of several weeks. We had given up on the idea of moving our mother until she was approved for Medicaid, which could have taken 2-3 months. When Kelsie Scott said it was possible, my exact words to her were, "We’re going to make this happen!" And we did!
