Unreliable

I was referred by a paid service that he subscribes to. His firm is unreliable in the process of my consultation making me lose weeks of delay in answering my legal matter. I made complaints to his service. He paid lip service to them that he would contact me as reported by their agent. He never ...did make contact . " A lawyer you can't rely on!" would be an apt slogan for his firm.

Consultation

Not a good experience. Sounds full of anxiety. Did not state my options pertaining to my case looks like he couldn’t even specify my standing. I’m sorry but seemed like he did not want to take any more cases

Great Atttorney

Alan is a very personable attorney who discusses all your options with you very thoroughly. Alan managed my bankruptcy in 2011. I carried a lot of debt that Alan was able to sort through and make suggestions. You will enjoy speaking with him as much as you will getting your problem solved. I encour...age anyone reading this review to call Alan right away!

Client Protection

Alan Kan was extremely pleasant to work with! He reviewed multiple documents for me and highlighted areas in which he felt I was not protected enough. He wrote revisions that I passed on and they were all amended and I was better protected. Thank you Alan for your hard work and professionalism!

Very Bad Experience

I had a terrible experience with Alan Kan. He said he would file a lawsuit for me on counterclaims I dismissed as part of a settlement in a prior case in Georgia. He was aware of the lawsuit and settlement. Alan Kan ruined my case because Defendants used res judicata/collateral estoppel of the prior... dismissal as a bar to my claims. After I had paid Alan Kan $10,000.00 he said in the opposition he agreed that I was barred. I had an email from opposing counsel stating I could refile my claims after settlement, so I asked Alan Kan to withdraw his FALSE statement that I was barred but he refused. I gave him the email from opposing counsel which said I could refile my claim and he refused to file that with the court, too. Georgia State Bar Rule 1.2a says “a lawyer shall abide by a client's decisions concerning the scope and objectives of representation and, as required by Rule 1.4, shall consult with the client as to the means by which they are to be pursued.” I am not an attorney but based on what happened to me as described above, I believe Alan Kan failed to abide by my decisions concerning the scope of his representation of me. Additionally, when he wanted me to retain him and pay him money, which I did, he said I had a good case. Georgia State Bar Rule 3.1 says: “In the representation of a client, a lawyer shall not: a. file a suit, …[or]… b. knowingly advance a claim or defense that is unwarranted under existing law.” So, I asked him why he took my case and more importantly my money if he thought my lawsuit was advancing a claim that was unwarranted under existing law. He refused to answer me. If he thought this all along, he should have never filed my case and taken my money. At the very least, he should have given the court the email I have from opposing counsel where opposing counsel said I could refile my claims, to estop their collateral estoppel/res judicata argument. He also missed important deadlines and failed to keep me apprised of the status of my case. I do not recommend him.
