I was a victim of a sexual assault case committed by a police officer
I tried several attorneys and they turn me down. They said it would be impossible to win this case based on the circumstances. In other words, they said that I asked for it. No woman asks to be cornered by a police officer with a gun and made to do the things he demanded. I prayed. I think that...
"All too often these days it seems that opposing counsel do not get along very well. Not so with Mel. My experience in representing clients opposite from Mel's clients is that he always retains a friendly, professional demeanor without losing his ability to skillfully and ably represent his clients' best interests. More lawyers should be like Mel."
"I have known Mel for 25 years, since shortly after he and his wife Harriet Isenberg moved to Atlanta. Mel's background in law enforcement and security services has informed his perspective on victims' rights and guided his ground-breaking work in premises liability law. His management experience enables him to orchestrate complex litigation seamlessly. And he is a very nice guy, who I would call in a minute if I had a personal issue I needed help with."
"I have worked with Mel on several civil rights (police misconduct) cases and a wrongful death case. Mel is an excellent attorney, who provides his clients with clear communication, excellent legal analysis, and practical experience, allowing his clients to fully consider their options in litigation. I highly recommend Mr. Hewitt."
"Mel was a cop before becoming a lawyer, and has served victims of crime in the hopes of making us all safer in both jobs. He is an absolute pioneer in crime victims’ work on ATM safety, and every wise attorney in the U.S. calls him for insights when they have one of those cases. And because is an extremely friendly and generous guy, he is glad to take every call."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mel is a driven, focused, aggressive attorney whom, along with Harriett Isenberg, has built a thriving law practice over the past 25+ years. He addresses the law, his peers and his clients from a ground level, practical point of view. He is a straight forward, don't beat around the bush kind of person, and his results as an attorney and his respect in the community speak for themselves."
"Mel Hewitt is an outstanding practitioner who supports his clients fully and vigorously seeks justice for them. I have had the pleasure of working with Mel on some highly complex litigation and he has proven to be an intelligent and incisive advocate in the courtroom and always compassionate in dealing with clients. Adversaries are well aware of Mel's highly regarded reputation for quality work and ethics. This is what sets Mel apart from the rest. He is admired and well liked by his clients and his adversaries. He is an outstanding attorney who gets results that make a difference in the lives of his clients. He is recommended highly."
