William Edwin Carlan

William opened Carlan Law in Canton, Georgia to assist clients and educate the public about legal issues surrounding workers' compensation, probate and the administration of estates, and wills and trusts. William believes that everyone should have access to an experienced and competent attorney to learn their options. Whether you need an advocate in the courtroom or an adviser in your corner, William provides the compassion, understanding, and expertise that will set your mind at ease.

Since 2015, William serves as an Associate Magistrate Court Judge in Cherokee County. William hears mostly criminal cases, but also presides over civil trials and eviction hearings.

Before opening Carlan Law, William served as a workers' compensation trial attorney with Hasty Pope, LLP. He handled workers' compensation cases from initial injury through trials and appeal. 

Previously, William served as the General Counsel for Verifaz, Inc., a corporation dedicated to assisting lenders with operation services, such as verification of consumer loans. William continues to advise clients on compliance, corporate, and general business legal needs.

Right after school, William worked as an Associate Attorney at Thompson, Meier & King, P.C., a full service law firm. William assisted individual and business clients with litigation and transactional legal needs.

During college, William worked as an intern for United States Senator Zell Miller in Washington, D.C. While on the hill, William assisted the Senator's staff in securing transportation appropriation funding for the state of Georgia.

William served on the executive board of the Cherokee Arts Center, and he is a board member with the Canton Main Street Program. 

William is an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 241. He has the distinction of completing every rank scouting offers - from Tiger Cub to Eagle Scout. William has the honor of having four of his poems chosen for publication in regional reviews.
