I was on probation in Rockdale County for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon when I was falsely charged with 6 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault and 6 counts of Child Molestation. All serious felonies and looking at life if convicted. Firstly, the charges in Dekalb triggered a Revocation o...f Probation in Rockdale where the Judge could have turned my probation into serving 10 years in prison. I hired Attorney Matthews and he got the revocation of probation Dismissed. Then in Dekalb the prosecutor felt the case was problematic for the state to take to trial but didn't want to dismiss the case. Attorney Matthews was able to get the Child Molestation charges dismissed and the 6 felony charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault dropped to 5 misdemeanors. Attorney Matthews arranged it so that I could take an Alford Plea which basically is saying that I was able to maintain my innocence and say that I did not do any of the allegations but I didn't want to chance taking the case to trial to leave my fate up to 12 jurors. I was facing life in prison and given 5 years misdemeanor probation. No Jail Time. Attorney Matthews is determined and a people's Attorney, I felt connected to him as not just my attorney but someone who was truly concerned about my well being. It is obvious when Mr. Matthews enters the court room that he is well known and respected by everyone which is of absolute importance. I felt that with the 25 years of experience Attorney Matthews possesses, he has good relationships in the courtroom while at the same time, he's not one to be pushed around and that's what you need in an Attorney. His staff is very welcoming and helpful at all turns.
