I was on probation in Rockdale County for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon when I was falsely charged with 6 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault and 6 counts of Child Molestation. All serious felonies and looking at life if convicted. Firstly, the charges in Dekalb triggered a Revocation o...f Probation in Rockdale where the Judge could have turned my probation into serving 10 years in prison. Then in Dekalb the prosecutor felt the case was problematic for the state to take to trial but didn't want to dismiss the case. Attorney Matthews was able to get the Child Molestation charges dismissed and the 6 felony charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault dropped to 5 misdemeanors. Attorney Matthews arranged it so that I could take an Alford Plea which basically is saying that I was able to maintain my innocence and say that I did not do any of the allegations but I didn't want to chance taking the case to trial to leave my fate up to 12 jurors. I was facing life in prison and given 5 years misdemeanor probation. No Jail Time. I hired Attorney Matthews to represent my son who was stopped by Johns Creek Police in the afternoon for---get this a brake light not working...the one across the trunk of the car not the tail lights. The cop told my son that he was going to give him a warning then claimed he smelled marijuana. He t...hen proceeded to search my son's car but found NO marijuana. He then searched the trunk and found a gun in a backpack in the trunk. My son being a felon was taken into custody for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
