Laura Holland Sclafani

My ex-husband opened a case and served me with papers to lower his child support. I was scared about how this would effect my financial situation and my child but also about the whole process. Laura was honest. She told me things I needed to hear, not just what I wanted to hear. She was thoughtful ab...out my financial situation but also caring and supportive of my desires to keep the process amicable. She was thoughtful and thorough. I must be honest, I didn't get to keep as much child support as I wanted, but I also didn't lose as much as I could have. This is a win, in my book. She gave me truthful advice about the compromise my ex and I came to during mediation and was fully transparent about my options and the risks. I feel that I was informed and fully taken care of through this process.

I cannot say enough good things about Laura and everyone I had the pleasure to work with at Smith & Files these past few months. Their office came recommended to me by the co-worker of my now ex-wife (Gasp!), and I am so glad I chose them. Laura and Sandra in particular were so understanding and pa...tient with me during the whole divorce process. They took the time to get to know me and my situation and they explained everything to me about the divorce process and what to expect (I must admit it took multiple explanations in some cases---that’s where their patience became very apparent). And they kept me grounded during what was without a doubt the most difficult life event I have ever gone through. While I do not anticipate having to call Laura again for *divorce* counsel (since I do not planning on getting *divorced* again), I will most definitely be calling on her for the pre-nuptual planning when I do decide to get married again.
