“Lack of Communication, Misleading Estimates, and Unmet Expectations

We retained William’s services in January to assist with a sensitive family matter, with a clear timeline in mind for resolution by June due to a major family event. During our initial consultation, William presented the matter as straightforward and assured us it would not be overly costly. Based on... his representations and professional demeanor, we agreed to retain him and signed a contract. Following payment of the initial retainer, I promptly provided all requested documentation to begin the case. Unfortunately, communication ceased almost immediately. For nearly two months, I received no substantive updates or progress on the case. Multiple attempts to follow up via email and phone went unanswered until I expressed dissatisfaction in stronger terms. Only then did I receive minimal case activity in the form of a brief, three-page document submission. Shortly thereafter, I was invoiced for over $600—primarily for the time spent reading and responding to my inquiries about the case status. The original retainer was effectively depleted by this limited and reactive communication, rather than substantive legal work. When I raised concerns about unmet expectations and lack of progress, William offered to terminate the agreement. Given the lack of forward momentum and unexpected cost escalation—several thousand dollars beyond initial estimates—I agreed to end the engagement. The case was closed without achieving any meaningful result. Regrettably, I am left without resolution, and out of pocket for legal fees that yielded minimal value. I would strongly encourage potential clients to thoroughly research and vet representation. In my experience, this attorney did not demonstrate the reliability, communication, or follow-through that clients deserve in sensitive legal matters.

William Ney is Worth It

I think a lot of people wonder if it's "worth it" to take the time and spend the money to consult an attorney regarding relatively small civil claims. I can say from personal experience that William Ney makes the consultation process both convenient and useful. After speaking with Mr. Ney, I felt h...e throughly understood the details of my situation, and could therefore explain realistic options for the various ways to proceed. In addition to informing me about my legal options, Mr. Ney went the extra mile and further explained the logistical process and possible outcomes of each legal option, allowing me to confidently move forward with what to do and how to do it. I really benefited from Mr. Ney's legal advice and his participation in the Avvo phone-consultation program and I would highly recommend calling him for any business related litigation concerns or questions. Thank you,Mr.Ney, for your help and consideration.
