Mary Melissa Simms

Melissa Simms is an experienced, battle-tested trial attorney. Having served as a prosecutor for approximately 10 years prior to becoming a defense attorney, Ms. Simms has the skills and knowledge to help protect your rights should you find yourself facing criminal charges. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University in 1997, and her J.D. from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2000. Ms. Simms then received her LL.M. in 2006 from London Metropolitan University in International Law, with a focus on International Human Rights. She has been a prosecutor both here in Georgia as well as overseas in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and in the small island nation of Palau. This vast and varied experience means Ms. Simms will be your zealous advocate in the courtroom, whether you are charged with a small traffic offense, or a serious felony.

Ms. Simms believes listening to a client is paramount. She is candid and forthright, and will give you an honest assessment of your situation, and together work out a plan for handling your case. Having tried over 100 jury trials, Ms. Simms is comfortable in a courtroom, but also knows how to negotiate with the State regarding the best possible resolution of your case.

Ms. Simms is a native Atlantan. She is married and has an 11 year old daughter and two very spoiled dogs named Tallulah and Lily. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, knitting, and spending time on the lake with her family.
