People come to me at what is often the worst times in their lives. I am mindful of that and understand my job is not simply to be their attorney but also to counsel and guide them through the rough waters. I am fortunate that my mom runs my office and together we make a great team with a personal touch. Over and over again our clients tell us how they feel they can relax now that their case has been turned over to me and my office.
I have been a family law attorney for 28 years and have handled over 2000 cases involving adoption, termination of parental rights, divorce, custody and child support issues. I practice primarily in Gwinnett County since I believe it is important that your attorney knows and is known by the judges.
I'm a parent too so I understand nothing is more important than your children's well-being. I've also been through the process myself so I don't just talk the talk, I have walked the walk which means I know what you're going through on a personal level too. I am often appointed by judges to serve as a Guardian ad Litem - an attorney whose job it is to recommend to the court what custody and visitation arrangements are in the best interest of children whose parents are going through a custody dispute. As a result, I have earned the respect of judges for my passion as well as the direct and bold approach I bring as an advocate for my clients, whether they are adults or kids.
I am in court a lot. I have both the experience and the passion to persuade. Integrity means a lot to me and should to you too. I fight hard but I fight fair. I want to be proud of the work I've done and I encourage my clients to take the high road without sacrificing their rights, particularly when there are children involved.
I have represented husbands and wives and mothers and fathers and kids, which gives me a unique perspective and experience with the courts. I don't have associates. My office is me and my mom. That means when you hire me, you don't get handed off to someone else. You get my efforts and my experience.

Extremely knowledgeable, articulate and experienced
Debra represented me in a modification of custody against my ex wife. She was extremely effective and obviously knew her way around the courtroom.
"I honestly can't say enough good things about this woman. Debra is a great attorney, mediator, Guardian Ad Litem, mentor and friend. She is incredibly reasonable and realistic and has a great track record on settling cases. I think she is a huge asset to our Family Law community and I always enjoy working with her."
"I have always known Debra to be a tenacious, smart litigator fighting the "good fight" for her clients. However, I have recently utilized her talents as a mediator. It is not too surprising to find that she is also extremely skilled as a mediator. I will definitely be using her as a mediator in the future. I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer. She was very professional, and did a great job looking at what would be best for the minor child."
"I have had the pleasure of working with Debra on several cases where she was the Guardian ad Litem. During each case, she has been fair, professional, and impartial. She has completed a thorough investigation, and has advocated for the best interests of the children. Debra has not always advocated for the custodial arrangement that my client wanted but she has always put the best interests of the children first. I will continue to seek Debra's appointment as Guardian in my cases."
"I've known Debra for many years and have found her to be very knowledgeable on the law and tough but fair to opposing parties. She has a very solid reputation in the legal community. I would not hesitate to have Debra represent me personally if such an unfortunate situation were to arise."
"I endorse this lawyer. Over the years, I have handled numerous matters opposite Ms. Hale. On occasion, she and I have worked together representing parties on the same side as well. Ms. Hale is one of the finest family law attorneys i know. She is extremely knowledgeable, and fights hard for her client. Ms. Hale is very effective in the courtroom, and always conducts herself in an ethical and fair minded manner. I would recommend her to anybody needing counsel, and frequently refer cases to her if I have a conflict."
"I highly endorse Ms. Hale. She is a zealous advocate for her clients and strives to achieve the best outcome for each and every client she works for. Ms. Hale is well respected in the legal community and has a vast knowledge of all areas of family law."
"I endorse this lawyer for family law in general, but specifically all cases related to children. She is very thorough and fair."
