also known as Alake Furlow
My name is Alake Colwell Furlow and I have been handling family court cases since 2009. Being licensed since 2011, I have many years of experience handling domestic cases involving divorce, child support, child custody, deprivation, visitation, legitimation, temporary restraining orders, termination of parental rights, mediation, settlement negotiations and paperwork drafting.
I have experience handling cases in Superior Court in the following counties:Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton, Henry, Paulding, Douglas, Dekalb, Fulton, Barrow, Forsyth, Rockdale, Cherokee, Jasper & Walton county. I also have experience working in Magistrate Court as well as Juvenile Court. I have represented many clients in contested and uncontested divorces, actions to legitimize for custody & visitation, child support modifications, deprivation hearings in Juvenile Court as a parent attorney, credit card actions representing the debtor & even handled actions involving multiple states.
When asked why you should hire me the answer is simple. Many people want an attorney who is accessible, an attorney who answers your telephone calls, and attorney that returns your emails as well as an attorney who works on your case instead of handing your file off to a paralegal. There are many benefits involved with regard to working with a small firm because clients are able to work directly with the attorney, the attorney has personal and intimate knowledge of your case and that attorney has invested in getting the best possible outcome for you in the fastest time possible.
Why not represent yourself? Why hire an attorney at all? It is important to hire an attorney for many reasons. An uncontested divorce will not be granted if there are issues with your paperwork. You may obtain an adverse judgment if you represent yourself and are unaware of how to present your case at trial. An attorney can handle your case right the first time without you having to try and hire an attorney afterward to appeal an adverse jugment. An attorney knows the court system, judge's and judge's offices and are able to maneuver your case through the process in an timely and efficient manner.
Our motto is service, solutions, success. And we are able to achieve those results at a price you can afford. Call now and speak directly with me, not a legal assistant. We will begin working on your case immediately, get you the relief you are seeking with excellent results.

Great Experience
Ms. Colwell was my attorney for my divorce. She made the process easy for my wife and I since it was an uncontested divorce. The process was simple, she would draft the documents and send them to us to sign. There was no trial and she charged us a flat rate. She's very efficient, knowledgeable and t...

Very Knowledgeable and Helpful
Although I didn’t have the money to hire her, she took the time to explain to me the difference between a contested and uncontested divorce. She explained to me what happens if my husband won’t sign. And she explained the process to me if we have to go through the whole case and it doesn’t settle. ...

Run from this Person. Do not hire!!!
I hired Alake Colwell Furlow to defend me in a child custody case. Though she was responsive, her skills as an attorney are sorely lacking. She had me do things that cost me money that were not even admissible in court. She made a lot of "rookie" mistakes. She will overcharge you and double bill you ...
During the course of my representation with this client she had nothing but great things to say about the work I was doing. She never once complained about my representation of her, as a matter of fact, after every court appearance she would tell me what a good job I was doing. While representing her I was able to keep her from being cited for contempt, get a temporary child support order for her, when she had not received any money from her husband in over a year and a half, and keep him from taking her son away when he filed an emergency motion for temporary custody. This client decided to hire another attorney in lieu of paying her bill for attorney's fees to my office. To this day, over a year later, she has never filed a complaint with the State Bar of Georgia because there was nothing inappropriate that transpired during my representation of her. A judge later agreed with my documentation ordering her to pay my office attorney's fees in a judgment against her for the work my firm did in her case. I believe this review stems from the fact that she was held accountable for her actions and forced to pay for my services by a court of law.
