Marqus Anthony Cole

Marqus A. Cole is a native of Georgia and the founding member of The Cole Law Office. Marqus decided to become a lawyer after seeing a courthouse and jail firsthand during his senior year of high school. The number of men and women behind bars that looked like him outweighed the men and women in suits there to help. At that moment, he knew he wanted to be one of the men in suits to help the men behind bars.

In law school, Marqus received specialized training in the areas of criminal law. He interned at the Cook County Public Defender’s office, one of the largest public defender’s offices in the country, representing members of the community that needed high-quality legal counsel but could not to pay for an attorney.

After graduating law school, Marqus continued providing high-quality legal counsel to community members with limited resources by becoming a civil legal aid attorney. Marqus represented clients in landlord/tenant matters, public housing cases, public benefits, bankruptcies, and small claims cases.

Marqus was recruited to the Lake County State’s Attorney Office, as an Assistant State's Attorney in the metro-Chicago area. He worked to pursue justice for victims and helped prosecute crimes in the traffic, DUI, misdemeanor, and felony review division.
