Responsive, Knowledgeable, and Thorough

My wife and I needed to revise our estate planning documents, because since our last documents were executed we had moved to Georgia, our adult daughter had become disabled, and the tax laws had changed. Allison was very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the documents we would need. She also ask...ed our preferences and offered suggestions on how to include them in our estate plan. When the drafts were provided to us, Allison took the time to explain each of the documents and answer our questions when the legal phrasing was somewhat unclear to us. She guided us through the Power of Attorney and Medical Directive drafts and explained the possible outcomes of the choices available to us. She also provided a cover letter which not only included a summary of our bequest preferences but also how best to achieve those preferences. Included with the cover letter were instructions on how to title ownership in our accounts and assets in Georgia so our preferences were more readily accomplished upon our demise and what title changes would be necessary when the first of us dies. Lastly, she suggested non-legal documents we may want to prepare to assist our executors, trustees, and beneficiaries in carrying out and explaining our final wishes. Allison is a very pleasant person with whom to work, and we highly recommend her.

SEARCHING for the BEST ATTORNEY to DRAW UP YOUR WILL and OTHER RELATED LEGAL DOCUMENTS?

I recently had the opportunity to have my Will, Financial Power of Attorney and Health Care Directive prepared by Allison Byrd, LLC. Ms. Byrd took the raw material that I provided her concerning my requirements, filled in all the gaps that I had not been aware of and created the most comprehensive a...nd useful legal documents to cover the needs of my estate planning. She did this in short time; always in a professional, yet friendly, manner. I have the fullest confidence in Ms. Byrd's abilities as an attorney and intend to utilize her legal services again. I recommend her completely.

Recommendation of Allison Byrd for writing a will and an advance directive

I approached Allison Byrd a little over a year ago to assist me in writing my will. In many respects my estate was an uncomplicated one since my assets are easily defined (my home, brokerage accounts and personal property) and possible heirs easy to identify (I have no spouse or children). One ...unusual objective was my desire to leave the bulk of my estate as a bequest to a local university. This required that Allison work closely with the development officers of that university to construct terms for the bequest that were consistent with my wishes. Allison was instrumental in helping me accomplish this goal. I am very pleased with the arrangements I have made for this legacy. Another one of my objectives was to construct my will to keep things as simple as possible for my executor. (Having recently been the executor of an estate, I have come to realize that the job can entail a lot more work than the person writing the will anticipated.) Allison helped me consider my options in this regard and come up with a solution that I believe will relieve my executor of unnecessary trouble. Finally, since I had no living will, Allison assisted me in completing an advance directive that reflects my desires for care if I should become incapacitated and addresses special concerns I have for avoiding the use of extraordinary measures on my behalf at the end of my life. Her careful attention to this was very much appreciated. Allison provided all these services at what I believe to be a reasonable price. She was diligent about making sure I understood the options before me at each step, and she was eager to research and clarify any questions that came up during our discussions. Allison also made sure that the conclusion of the number of documents involved in all this went off without a hitch. I am pleased to say that, thanks to Allison, I now am confident that I have a will and advance directive that will accomplish exactly what I want them to do.
