Do Not Retain

I retained Caitlyn Hood for my divorce, filed after my husband assaulted me and threatened my life, and I would not recommend her. Client neglect and non-responsiveness were constant throughout the case — most of my messages went unanswered or responses were significantly delayed, and she sat on key ...evidence, including a police report, body camera footage, and evidence of perjury by the opposing party, without ever presenting it at my hearing. She was late to every court appearance and mediation, which the judge was visibly frustrated by, and the court itself ordered her to personally pay a portion of opposing counsel's fees as a result. Because of her failures, I ended up financially responsible for over $10,000 in fines and fees against me, when the facts of my case should have resulted in me being awarded attorney's fees instead. I also missed a time-sensitive opportunity to recover personal property valued at over $3,000 because she never passed along information she'd received from opposing counsel. She confirmed in writing that she'd redact my home address for safety reasons and then didn't, and I was billed for that work anyway. After I terminated the representation, my file was incomplete and I was billed further. I would not recommend this firm at all. My communications regarding the concerns with my case have essentially gone unanswered by the firm, including Caitlyn, the firm owner, and the firm's client experience manager.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
