Not only did he take the time to understand a complicated guardianship case for my special needs daughter and I, but also was able to help me navigate an equally complicated divorce case - both simultaneously. I had hired another attorney who had a debilitating stroke mid-case. After a bit of searching, I found Stephen. I REALLY wish that I had found him first! Stephen took the time to explain things to me, and let me make decisions that were mine to make. Where he had to call a shot, he did, and explained... why he did so. His billing practices were vastly better than the other, "well-respected" attorney. For making more appearances with more time involved and generating more documentation than "the other guy", and being involved in the case equally as long, his bill was less than half as much. For example, from the billing statements, it seemed that when he billed time for taking calls, he didn't automatically bill 1/2 hour of time for a 5 minute call, as I have found other individuals will do. This speaks volumes of his ethics and time management practices. I have dealt with attorneys my entire adult life, and when I have had to depend on one, I have found both the good and bad. Stephen is definitely the good. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking counsel in a Family Court matter.
