This Lawyer is a Bulldog

The person I bought my house from had clearly violated the Deceptive Trade Practice Act. I hired Dana after my first attorney seemed inept. Dana was communicative, a good listener and knew exactly what to do. He was thorough in his research and we won the case, which we should have. Winning in Texas ...and being able to collect are two different things. What really made Dana amazing in this case was that he followed his instincts and went the extra mile, which allowed us to unearth the defendent's unprotected assets. Dana was not only my hero but also became a friend.

Lawyers - You either love 'em or hate 'em

I have had to use five lawyers in the past, two for a serious criminal matter and three for civil matters. All were paid by me either by pre-arranged fee or contingency. One was a crook, lazy, and REALLY screwed me over, one tried hard but was not experienced enough to really help me, one did a ver...y good job [bankruptcy] and two were excellent. What I mean by excellent is that they do not take on "loser" cases to start with, charged fairly, had the necessary knowledge and resources to do what needed to be done and could be trusted. Be most importantly, they both cared about their clients well-being and what was in their best personal interest regardless of how that might affect the case and eventual settlement. Dana is one of the top two. Enough said.

Doesn't want to help you

I contacted for a potential plagiarism case. I did exactly as instructed then was never responded to, not even a "this won't hold up in court". I called both offices more than once and e-mailed more than once to no response. I contacted months later to find he was representing someone involved wh...o wanted to help me with my suit: "It’s so happens that I currently represent XXX in two or three copyright cases where he got ripped off. Below is our email communication where he waives any conflict of interest and he says he’d be happy to help with any suit." (per his e-mail) He then goes on to say I should hire his services: "you should pay me to respond to XXXX, bc if you don’t," (etc. per his e-mail). I responded with, "I'm confused. If XXX is eager and willing to help, why are you not able to file a suit against XXX? How much are you wanting to respond to XXX? What do you believe will be the result of your response?" (per my e-mail). His response was, "I’m not interested in bringing a suit (which this will take), spending dozens and perhaps hundreds of hours of time to sue a company that is uncollectible. If one takes a judgment against a company or person, money doesn’t just fall from heaven like manna; one must collect the judgment. I’m sorry, I can’t help you with this case. And I really don’t have the time or inclination to do the letter at my hourly rate of $450." Now, I don't have a problem that he doesn't want to do the case. I'm not happy with his tone, but that wasn't even the real clincher. What really did it was that he doesn't even want to do what he originally wanted me to pay him to do. My friend has advised me to file a complaint with the ethics board of both NC and TX.

Mr. Lejune advised client to disregard court decision showing total contempt for opposing party

Mr Dana Lejune, representing his son, Travis Lejune, for Buncombe County North Carolina district court case 21 CV 03304, was so disrespectful of the court process and its decisions, that he plainly said his son will not pay the amount of $400 awarded by the court. Extreme lack of professionalism and ...pettiness not worthy of any lawyer

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"In the times Dana LeJune and I have worked as aligned counsel in architectural copyright cases, I found have found him to be a strong strategic thinker, particularly adept at focusing on issues in the case that were of practical and legal importance to our client. He is never boring. Though perhaps inevitable, I do not look forward to the day when circumstances find us opposing one another."

"Dana LeJune is a careful, detail oriented attorney who is not afraid to take his client's cases to trial if the case merits it. His years of courtroom experience are readily apparent to both the judges and to opposing counsel."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
