HAVE YOU BEEN CHARGED OR ACCUSED OF A CRIMINAL OR TRAFFIC OFFENSE? IF SO, WE CAN HELP.

Nathan has represented individuals accused of criminal offenses ranging from minor speeding tickets to capital murder since 2003. Although the consequences and strategies differ in each case, his approach remains the same. In order for the client-lawyer relationship to be successful, there must actually be a relationship. It must be a relationship where the client feels comfortable and confident that their lawyer truly cares about their case. Secondly, there is no substitute for preparation. There is no consistent way for an attorney to reach the best possible result unless he takes the time and steps necessary to be fully prepared in each and every case. Finally, an attorney must be open to negotiate, but willing and able to aggressively litigate for his client. Nathan uses this approach to reach the best possible result for his clients.

Nathan is a native of Western North Carolina and graduate of Western Carolina University. He earned his law degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While in law school, he was chosen to intern with the 30th District Attorney's Office as well as one of Virginia Beach’s largest and most respected criminal defense firms. Upon graduation, he moved back home and for nine years worked with Melrose, Seago & Lay, P.A., where he was a partner for five years.

After meeting attorney David Moore and recognizing similar commitment to client values, Earwood and Moore, P.A. was opened with a vision of being known for knowledgeable, well-prepared and aggressive client representation.

Nathan is active in community, church and legal organizations and has served on various boards including the Criminal Justice Partnership Program and the Salvation Army. He is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers, North Carolina Bar Association, Advocates for Justice, Young Trial Lawyers Association and more.

Nathan has represented several individuals throughout western North Carolina charged with first-degree murder and has attended the “Capital College” in Raleigh, NC. Each year, Nathan attends multiple continuing education courses devoted to innovative ways to better represent those accused of crimes. Nathan prides himself on being a “student of the law,” keeping current on the most recent Court of Appeals and Supreme Court opinions relating to his practice. Nathan has also worked on post-conviction cases throughout his career and received relief from the Court in State v. Charman, 18 N.C. App. 378 (2007) and a new trial in State v. Webb, 197 N.C. App. 619 (2009)

Nathan lives in Waynesville with his wife, the Honorable Kristina Earwood, a District Court Judge, and two wonderful children.

Saved my son
I am beyond pleased that we hired Mr. Earwood to defend my son in a DUI case. Not knowing the system, I was afraid my son would have no chance of a positive outcome. Mr Earwood knows court system and the law. Being a native of Western NC, I think, is a great asset in a defense especially when it accompanies legal knowledge and obvious respect of the court. Mr Earwood did a fantastic job in defending my son. My son's charges were dismissed. This is the best possible outcome we could have had.

Client Recommendation for Law Office of Nathan Earwood
This is my strong endorsement and recommendation for the Law Office of Nathan Earwood of Sylva, North Carolina. I recently found myself in need of good legal representation, and was fortunate to locate this firm. For a nominal fee, they made the successful settlement of my case as worry-free as possible. I would especially like to commend Legal Assistant Corissa Shuler, who efficiently handled every aspect of my case. Ms. Shuler is an extreme asset to this firm.

Swain County Traffic Court
Obtained best possible result for a fair, flat fee—which included two court dates. Prompt, friendly service and excellent communication.

Driver error
I am a CDL truck driver who was speeding and using the left lane thru the gorge in NC. Speeding is easy to do as they have our speed reduced to 50 mph in this area and using the left lane is something alot of us do when we get behind a rookie or someone with a slow truck running 35 mph or less, yes we know it's against the law and most make sound decisions when attempting this. Nathan and his staff did an excellent and professional job for me. I did have to take a driving school online but it was well worth it not to have any points on my license. I would definitely recommend his firm

Protected my reputation...
Nathan and his team were successful in dealing with a minor traffic violation, a state statute with no victim (making it technically not a crime), for me. I am grateful for their service to defend the rights of their fellow Americans.

speeding ticket
Nathan Earwood was one of 5 letters from attorneys for assistance on a speeding ticket in NC. The other 4 didn't call back or follow thru. Nathans office delivered results BETTER THAN PROMISED and for LESS $$$ than quoted.!! ( your mileage may vary)

Speeding Ticket
Mr. Earwood and his defense team was able to effectively negotiate and bring down my speeding ticket in Jackson county. My ticket was brought down to 9 over which didn't impact my insurance or revoke my license. I am very satisfied and thankful for Mr. Earwood's service and would strongly recommend to anyone looking for this type of service

Positive Outcome
I felt confident from the beginning that I had chosen the right attorney to represent me for a speeding violation. Not only did he garner me a dismissal, but he was able to get it done 2 weeks before my court date. I highly recommend his office.

Smart, thorough, compassionate.
I direct a small non-profit organization that has frequent need for legal advice and services for the people for whom we advocate. I've worked with a number of attorneys and Mr. Earwood is the most reliable, compassionate and efficient lawyer I've worked with. His staff is excellent. They actually answer the phone and follow up as promised. I've both hired and consulted on cases with Mr. Earwood and find he and his office to be consistently excellent.

Speeding Ticket +19 mph
The attorney's office worked with me, gave me options and explained the ramifications of my decisions. They were always respectful in their treatment of me and communicated with me until the case was resolved. In my case, the speeding ticket was reduced to a nonmoving violation (I had no prior violations in the observable period).

"TOP NOTCH attorney in Western North Carolina. Nathan has served as local counsel for our firm in different matters. Jason is always prepared, polite and professional. We also regularly refer matters to Jason and his firm. That says something, because whom we refer reflects on our firm. I am proud to be both a professional colleague and friend. Jason Earwood earns my highest praise and endorsement. I think the world of Jason and am honored to provide this recommendation.
